Does 401's front have to face front of heli ?

Does 401's front have to face front of heli ?
It makes sense for me to install on place where I can adjust all setting.
To be able to do that Gyro's front will face side of my heli.
Does it matter ?
In instruction, it is only matter whether gyro is horizontal to helicopter.
