Default Setting of a OS 30

i need help on my set up on the high speed needle. This is what happened when I started to to add collective, I had it full stick and it wouldn't lift off the ground, finally after adjusting the motor I got it to hover. Then like when i was a min into the hover, i started to lose altitude so i gave it collective and it keep on coming down, then 15 sec later were kinda what back to nomal. its a O. S. 30 im running 15% nitro with 20% oil it has only like 3 tanks ran though it,
My needle is about 1 3/4 i think its to much , i lost my book to see where is the normal , my other half threw it away :0) i will thank her later for that lol. some one told me that it runs a little hot so i need to open it up b/c of after 15 sec it runs ok and i have my rpm back. but i dont know where i need to set the needle since i have no book see if yall can help me thanks .

After the engine is fully broken in you will run about 1 1/2 on the main needle with a std muffler. I usually end up richening up the bottom end about 1/16 of a turn from the stock setting. The OS needs a rich bottom end to keep the mid range from leaning out. You should have the bottom end rich enough to notice some coughing when transitioning to running rpm's from idle when the engine is cold. If it dies a lot when trying to run it up lean it a little but not too much.
