Default When to start using Mixing Functions ....

Should I start using the Tail Rotor / Throt mixing function for forward flight , will it help with advanced hovers like east / west and nose in ,
I notice when I hover and when I give collective , my tails moves to the left .
I also notice during forward flight I loose altitude , what can be done ?
When should the other mixing functions be used ( they should make flying easy , not complicated )

Well you can use the tail compensation OR use a heading lock gyro.
