I was at a swap meet this morning and did some trading for this heli. It Has a Kalt g-22 motor which leads me to believe this is a kalt heli but not sure. Total length is 5 feet. I need lotsa parts for this thing but I am not sure if available anymore. What kind of body is this? Any help would be great. Thanks

It's probably a Kalt Baron/ G-22 series gasser. Take a look at this video I found on YouTube. It says 4 stroke, but I think it's a gasser. The frames look similar. They ran a very slow head speed compared to other helis of the period and also tended to throw a blade now and then in-flight.

It is a gasser as you can see the motor and spark plug wire. I had a Kalt Gas Alpha (or Alpha GS) and the frame do look similar but it hard to tell with how it's been stuffed into the body.... I still have a few sets of wood blades for that helo... The stock helo flew very well.

Not to Hijack a thread but I also bought a Kalt helicopter from Ebay recently. Not sure what it is but I popped to my local wealth of knowledge known as Martin Briggs in Ledbury and got all the necesary parts to get it up & running again.
This is only my second helicopter, the first being electric so quite a step up in size.
It has a 61 engine OS Max and is just over 4' nose to tail.
Setting the helicopter up is one thing but I think I will need a degree to set the Futaba transmitter up....

the frame looks like the typical kalt 60 size, but the main rotor drive gear is not the correct one for any of the kalt 60 size. judging by the old style rotor head as well as that gear,i am guessing it is a 86 tooth,i would say that originally it was a baron 50 nitro. either that or it is a kalt gs alpha gasser with a older rotor head and different main rotor gear put on it.the gs alpha did not use the type of tranny style tail drive that yours has here. the tail ran off the top bevel /crown gear .yours of course doesn't have that bevel/crown gear

Its a Kalt GS Baron. I have 2 of them in pod and boom form. The engine is a KG22 2stroke petrol, and some parts are interchangable with Zenoah. The main frames look similar to the 60 nitro version but the only difference is the engine mounting holes.
I have parts lists, drawings and brochures etc. If you require copies let me know.
Kalt also produced scale fuselages of the Jetranger, Longranger, Ecureuil, Cobra 500, Bell 222 and the Hughes 500 but its difficult to identify yours.

The main gear is 86 tooth. Part number 0101-046-8 Its listed as a rotor drive gear assembly
Low gear ratio tail drive unit part number 0101-057-8 drives off the main gear with a 11 tooth pinion to 2 bevel gears.
I have a complete instruction manual for the GS Baron II
Both of my gassers drive the tail with this low gear ratio unit. There is no crown gear on the main gear.
The head in the picture looks like a K-1 SB. I have one in pieces!
The original tail drive was piano wire inside a tapered boom. On my gasser I converted it to carbon tube drive inside a custom made 25mm dia. carbon fibre boom. I used Xcell drive couplings at both ends and made the boom longer so I could use 71cm blades.
If you need anymore info just shout!

brian, thanks for the SUPER FAST and informative help. i agree, the head does look like a k-1sb,i have one somewhere. did this heli come out before the gs alpha and baron alpha II?? if so,i am wondering why they went to the crown gear to drive the tail as it sheers off so easliy. eventually i plan to get away from the crown gear style.also, the two bevel gears that you mention, are they inside the tail drive unit?i think that i may have this unit on a baron 50 that i have., thanks, larry

I HAVE ONE OF THESE TAIL DRIVE UNITS but it is p/n 101-059-8.at least that is what is hand written on the instruction sheet. unfortunately it has 16 teeth not eleven. if the two bevel gears on mine are the same as yours, what would the 5 extra teeth on mine do to the tail speed? it would spin faster correct?,larry
