Default My Newest project....

This is my latest project, gonna have it in the air by good weather. It is a GMP flybarless Legend, OS-61 SFN-H, gonna use a Macs muffler, Futaba servos, JR 550 gyro, looking for it to be a nice gentle flier, not a 3D machine. It is an Excell fuse, got it here online, it fit with minimum trimming, will be easy to see in the air...Only thing I have to work out is the tail control, I don't want to use the wire, I'm thinking about mounting a servo way back on the boom, close to the tail box, then a short CF pushrod.... anybody mounted a servo back by the tail before?........Coop

Great project! I always liked that particular X-cell fuselage..

tail servo on tail? I don't know that that's a very good idea.. I mean, think of all the vibration back there, for one! also, since you will be using a pushrod, why not make it longer and put the servo by the frame, rather than putting it way out there, with more connections to worry about? Also your heli might become tail heavy, and it would take a lot of weight to compensate for it in the front! I think that since you are going to be using a pushrod (I mean, just stating that it exists), I think it's better if you make the pushrod longer than make the servo cord longer with an extra connection that may fail.

Also heard something about possible interference if the boom is metal, and having a long servo wire, but I'm not sure about that. It would cost a lot to make sure it wasn't true though!

I'd like to put the servo back by the frame, but there is a problem getting clearance for the rod between the fuse and boom, I might be able to use a heavy wire w/standoffs rather than a C/F rod, I just want to eliminate as much flex as I can. I hadn't thought about the vibration issue, thanks.....Coop
