Default Pendulum effect

New to R/C Helis!

Watching my son fly my CX-2 it appears that there a pendulum effect generated by over controlling the aircraft. Similair to a pilot induced oscillation in a fixed wing aircraft. The pilot's reactions are not fast enough to correct the swing below the rotor blades. I told my son to stop fighting the controls and let the aircraft stabilize before doing more with it. Once imputs were neutralized the machine settled to where it was far more controllable.

What are your experiences?

Default RE: Pendulum effect

yeah, that should pretty much do it. Since the top blades are hooked to a flybar, and the bottom blades are hooked to the swash, the top blades automatically counter act the input to the bottom blades, that's why the cx2 isn't very good with FFF (fast forward flight). Try to teach him small and steady movements. It can be hard with a young guy, but it'll probably be good for him to learn, and you'll need it if you ever go to a single rotor heli.

Sounds like a good fun hobby for you and your son =) welcome both of you to RCU and to RC heli's =)

check out this link, it has alot of good info on the cx2 and what you can do with it and how to set it up
