I just received my Quick Learner 30 kit today, and when I opened the box I was surprised to find a two piece canopy, instead of the usual one piece. It had the main canopy in the white gel coat fiberglass, and the "glass" in black gel coat fiberglass. There was no inclusion of screws, or any other means of attaching the glass to the canopy. The instructions don't mention the change, and still shows the one piece white canopy.
I guess I'll use some self tapping screws, to hold it on, like on my Venture. This is only a minor snag, and I'm looking forward to building this kit. This is my first attempt at building, as my Venture was already 90% assembled. I'm really impressed at the quality of the parts. I'm going with TT39 for powerplant, and Futaba GY401 gyro w/S9253. Wish me luck!!

This seems unusual, I would post a question in the Quick Forums here and let quick support answer your question, or you could call about it..I bought two Pro's and both my canopies were one piece..
It could just be a change in production components.

I had a learner kit for a short period of time. And the one I had was equiped with a one piece canopy. I to would tend to think that this is an unusuall situation. Perhaps you can epoxy it on carefully. Just a suggestion.

I agree that it could be a change in production. I also noticed that the boom supports and horizontal fin attach differently than the instructions show. The instructions show a "ring" that the fin bolts to on top, and underneath there's a flange that the two boom supports are bolted to, with a 20mm cap head bolt & a lock nut. The kit has each boom support bolted, on each side with a 8mm bolt into plastic. This is probably fine, as long as I don't over tighten the screws, which could easily strip the plastic. The only thing stopping me from drilling straight through & and using a longer bolt and lock-nut is that I would have to drill through the boom, and I don't want to do that.

I went to the WRAM show and asked for a new Quick 30 canopy and was given the "new" 2-piece canopy- all I can say is that it's horrible......just as mentioned- no screws or method to attach and very thin glasswork...I hate the new canopy. It also will not mount with the mounts as included with the Quick kits (unless they have changed the mounts)......the old canopy was nicer looking and had a great finish to them as well as being thicker and of general higher quality- it's even better than the Fury canopies.......I really hope HHI goes back to the old canopies.
Just my opinion anyway.

I bought a second canopy for my Quick also and was sent the 2 piece one. What a piece of junk! I called them and they said that it is the "New" Version 2 canopy for the Quicks, but why does it not fit without changing the mounts? I then called and another salesman told me they were out of the normal ones and were replacing with the 2 piece ones that happen to look like the Venture/caliber canopy they offer on the website. The 2 piece versions windshied does not even line up right. 55.00 for a canopy that was cracked in 2 places, made thin, and did not fit right.

QUICK 46 Carbon
Just adding to this post regarding the 2 piece canopy/instuctions.
This is my first attempt at building a heli and I am enjoying it. Almost completed.
The 2 piece canopy has become a challenge. It has already cracked in my attempts to position it properly. I ended up trimming the two front mounts by about 1/4" each. Now it fits better. I'll have to fiberglass the crack though. I still haven't figured out exactly as to how I will attach the windshield to the canopy. It would have been nice if some attaching hardware was included. I'd like to find some type of quick (no pun) release type fasteners. Maybe a DZUS fitting. It looks like it will fit better if mounted to the inside of the canopy rather then the outside. Mounting to the inside will show what looks like trim molding on the canopy.
Any other ideas?
How does HHI do there's?
