Most folks are going to tell you to go for a .50 size heli. But if you gotta have a 30 size go for the Rapter, Century Hawk Pro. Evo .30. The new Hawk pro has a great following and is only $209. The OS.37 is the motor of choice.

I agree, there are a number of good 30's available. But the Hawk Pro is great "bang for the buck". Mine now has almost 300 flights on it and it is still going strong. With the power of the OS 37 and its relatively light weight, it can take you from initial training, to well into some pretty exciting 3D...and all at very low pricing.

i have a raptor 30 and 3 JR's and i think the JR is the best but thats just me
where i live the LHS doesnt carry anything so i have to order everything i get and i find that both are about the same money for parts. but by all means check at your LHS and see what they carry and check prices as well [8D]

You will find that once you learn flying properly, you will outgrow the 30 size and would want to get to a bigger size.
So my suggestion is go for the Hawk pro as it is cheaper than the others, and you will not learn anything more from a more expensive model anyway. I have bought one and has been great.
Since then, I have bought also a Trex 600 and love it even more. I never regretted the Hawk, and find that I saved a lot getting that instead of the others, performance has been great, and the overall experience satisfying.Still flying it between charging my batteries of my 2 Trex's, and saved a bundle meanwhile.
Don't get me wrong, the raptor and the Evo seem to be the preference between a lot of people and clearly the 2 top heli brands out there since Align doesn't have a 30 size nitro out there, but you should really give century a look.
I kinda saved my money for the bigger model that I wanted later, after I was a bit better flier.
