Well I rebuilt my engine and it is now running much, much better. I've put a gallon and a half through it and it is still gaining power. During the third tank I was able to pull about 9.5 degrees of pitch at 100% and now I can pull 12.25 degrees at 90% at the same RPMs while keeping it about 2 clicks rich from optimum. <Spit test turns while and has 1 or 2 bubbles per seconds> I am guessing I'm running about 1900 RPMs. That just a guess from listening to a 30 at the same time with a governer.
Anyway, here is my problem:
The left half of my horizontal stabalizer is a blur, but the right haf isn't. The canopy does a LARGE jiggle while hovering.. like a shudder.. radomly.. about every 5 seconds. The tail will also shake up and down about 3 inches up and down at about 3-4 wags per seconds at the same time or right after the canopy jiggles. I checked the balance on my tail rotor blades but they were fine. I tried tightening and loosening them and I tried new bearings.
Here's what I did differently from the last time I flew without the problem:
-Rebuilt the engine.
-Sanded a little bit off the 8 frame posts where the start shaft
bearings go to give the bearings a tighter fit.
-tightened up my T/R servo tail mount.
-put one blade on backwards and heared a few whaps from
tracking problems when I tried to take off. :stupid: oops!
- for some reason the engine clutch was dragging like crazy after
the rebuild so I had to drill out the engine mounting holes a bit
to lower the engine a few milimeters.
Other misc:
IT does FF, FFF, and aerobatics without anysign that anything is wrong, and when I hit the TH in a hover the vibrations seem to stop (that or I just miss them). Could it me I put my engine alignment off? My engine is also rich in the mid range. It has always been like this, though. I can't see how a rich engine will cause that vibration. When my engine goes lean on the header the vibrations get much worse as the headspeed rises.
