I have been out of r/c's for a while. Is it normal for the swift electron 451p battery , or any new style battery to expand or swell ?
Thanks guys. I feel like an idiot asking this, but like I said....I've been out of this hobby for 20 years.
The heli flys great. Just like riding a bike. No crashes yet.
thanks,
BirdDog

No battery, no matter the type, will normally swell. If it swells, discharge and dispose of it and get a new one. I am guessing it is LiPo, in which case you can soak it in salt water for 24 hrs, then just throw it away. Clip the connector off and keep it before you chuck it, so you can reuse it. What was the circumstance under which it swelled? Always great to meet a fellow Tennesse native! I'm from McKenzie, but spent the last 8 years before I moved away in Paris. My dad goes to Dickson often for his job. Cheers and happy flying!

Howdy Neighbor. LOL! Thanks for the info. Yep . it's a lipo. Brand new and I have figured out that I need to cycle it a few times before I take it to to the max.
I flew the Heli twice and after the second flight is when I noticed that it was swollen. It is back to normal now and seems to be doing ok, per the volt meter.
Just got back from Paris a few minutes ago. Small World.

Cool! Well...If it is back to normal size and everything reads right on the meter, I guess it is o.k., just keep a real close eye on it. Don't have any actuall experience with LiPo, just been studying up on it because I plan on getting a Black Hawk 450, and I am going to convert my e-savage to LiPo, so I thought it best to learn all I can about it. Things like this are just one more piece of info to be filed for later use!
