I ordered a Raptor 50 from heliproz today (my first chopper) I am wondering if 6 channels is enough for the r50? What will the r50 do with 8 channels that it won't do w/6 channels? Probably a dumb question but like I said it's my first chopper. i guess it really comes down to money... I figure I'll use the gy401/9253 with whatever radio I go with.
RD8000 any thoughts?
Thanks HH

I think its more about what features does the radio have, instead of how many channels...........
I believe the R50 is limited to mechanical mixing but you should probably get a radio that supports CCPM for the future. Also, 5 band throttle/pitch curves are really nice! And don't forget remote gyro gain. I'm going to buy the JR 8103 soon. I think its a radio I won't outgrow for awhile.

I never used a JR but wait for JR9x heard that it is good radio . and if you don't mind futaba then go for 9CHP or 9ZWC2 ..
9CHP is my preference
(unless I could efford a WC2)

Hi !
The 6ch is OK for the Rap50. My first radio is the Futaba-6XHS and use it 3 years already, then still now. I fly Rap30v1, Hawk, JR VoyagerE, Pro Piccolo on this radio. But I plan saving some $$$ and buy the Futaba-9CHP or JR8103 in the next year.
