A GY 502 Setup problem.
Hello fellow flyers,
Can anybody solve my gy502 setup problem?
Gyro in AVCS mode works very nicely, very stable etc.
Gyro in normal mode works very nicely.....after a bit of trimming for neutral position.
Now the 502 manual states (from memory away from home!) the neutral position must be re-read to the gyro to work in AVCS mode. Cycle the mode selector switch 3 times quickly #### will be displayed......
When I carry out the quick switch selection I do indeed get #### displayed.
However when I move the switch back to AVCS mode (with the trim still away from neutral) the gyro gives the tail a turn command.
So I retrim to neutral, no turn command.
Then if I switch back to normal mode the tail is not trimed.
So in summary how do I switch between AVCS & Normal mode and still have a trimmed tail in both modes?
Thanks in anticipation.
Phil M.

Thanks Paul G.
I will try a mechanical trim solution, thought using normal mode for flying the circuit would allow some tail movement and reduce my tail flying workload.
Do most guys not bother and just fly HH mode the whole time?

A GY 502 Setup problem.
just leave it on HH... but if you have too...
fly in non HH and trim mechanically that is does not drift. after that whenevr you switch on the gyro switch it on in HH and then there shouldn't be any problems even if you fly in non-HH.
but like i said, there is no real reason for switching back and forth just fly HH (except autos) and forget about it...
