Default How Critical is this?

I just got a shark II 450 all metal, and everything looks great (for the price) except for the fact that one of the support booms screws that attach the boom to the horizontal tail fin has broken off in shipping. I can secure it by redrilling, and I think that placement is not a critical as it has a threaded adjustable end, but thought I would check with the pro's.

I dont plan on doing any 3d yet, and the supplier is sending me a new mount and hardware (I hope), but its going to take a while to come from Canada. In the meantime, I wanted to get used to the bird, but did not want to mess anything up. I already did some hover practice in my obstacle course of a basement, and it handles real well so far, and I never got it out of ground effect. So am I good with a temp fix?

Thanks in advance!

It was RTF in the box. No assembly, and it was like that when I opened the box..so.

Anyways, I was not looking to blame anyone, as an I dont think its a big deal. I was for just looking feedback if relocating this is a big deal or not, with my intention to use this until I get my replacement parts. The seller has been very helpful, and the quality is amazing thus far. Attached is a picture of the broken part for more feedback. Thanks

Even though it's RTF, someone put it together and they could have screwed up. Either way, drill out the old screw and replace it with a slightly bigger self tapping screw in the same spot and you won't have any trouble. They are just there to provide support to the tail boom and don't really affect performance unless they come loose in the middle of a flight. As long as you can get the support back on and secured to the block in the same relative place, you should have no worries.

You don't need the horizontal stabilizer or the boom supports to fly, so just take them off and fly, when the new parts show up, put it back on

Here are some photos of the bird. I used twist ties on the boom support for now. It hovers well, so far only in the basement. I will try to post a video later.

I am new at these CP copters having only flown the dragonflyer (4 blade) non CP before. With the exception of the cheap hardware, I am very happy with this RTF kit. It came with everything you see in last picture. I also ordered two HK450 kits for 40 bucks each, which I will use for spares, or for an additional heli. I guess I have come to the darkside now!
