Well...after less than 5 flights on the Caliber 30 I have mastered nose in! Thanks to a bit of practice time on the G2 simulator it made this task far less daunting. The first flight today in my backyard I went for broke (no training gear either) and turned the heli nose in. Holding in a hover high and low was no problem. These things are fun. Just what I needed though, another addiction
Next I'll practice turns and orientation as I find helis hard to see sometimes. Then it is off to 3D land!

congratulations,
Lets thank the simulators again for preparing us for any manuover and reflect on the old timers that learnt the expensive ways.
When i started, i was the first to use the CSM sim that came on a 1.4Meg Floopy A Drive diskette to learn to fly in my area.
The old timers giving me advice were amazed at how i could hover after 2 tanks (training gear off) - my only explanation was SIM time!!
Keep it up..... literally

Marc,
Congratulations!!
That's probably one of the biggest milestones in flying Helis. It's all down hill from here.
Practice all orientations now. You'll find that facing left or right will be harder to hold than the other direction. Practice some slow pirouettes in both directions also. That will give you some good feeling for all orientations.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement guys! These things are addicting. I have the feeling I am going to need more fuel.
Scotty - Hi! Haven't heard from you in awhile. Great to see you online. I hope all has been well with you since we last spoke. I'll take your advice and work on the other orientations. Many, many years ago I had a heli and all I ever did was hover it tail in and sideways because I could not nose in. I'm hoping the sideways stuff comes faster because of that. I'll try those prouettes you suggest.

Marc has really impressed me, he also has not started to learn any bad habits. He is very smooth, a couple more buddy boxing with me and he will be ready to solo.

Where abouts in jersey do yall fly at? I am just getting into planes (got a 4*60 on the bench, along with a trainer that is being finished) along with the hopes of oneday picking up a heli.
Been practicing on the G2 for that day
