Ok...been browsing this forum for quite a while, couple months..its really great ! Picked up Realflight and a nexus 30 . after 4 tanks of gas ( and countless crashes on the sim) I can keep it tight in one spot.
Today while cleaning, I noticed how close the clearance was for the collective to the main gear (just at center)... I have been unable to find anything to give a figure for the correct amount.
I have attached a pic..with the collective at center. maybe thats normal ? Maybe I'm being paranoid about those two parts touching ?? any comments appreciated.
Kirk... the wobble you had with the traing hoop , was it just a slight shake in the nose ? I have a slight shake in the nose just as the heli lightens up under power...then it goes away until you hit that spot again on power down.... Hmmm...
Again thanks to this great forum too... had I not stumbled across it I would never had bought a heli !

my nexus has that same tight clearance.... its normal.....
They will not touch unless forced to by a good amount of force (ie The Earth)
Good luck with the chopper.

.....WOW, a question for me!! I JUST KNEW if I hung around long enough I would some day move from being the NEW guy to one of the OLD FARTS!!!
OK, to answer your question:
YES, it would do that, I know that this is NORMAL!! But the SHAKE that I was talking about IS NOT NORMAL!!! It was obvious!!
I fixed it!!
For what it's worth, I had a friend look over my machine and he suggested I take off the trainging gear and fly without. YES I WAS SCARED!!!! But it was the best thing I ever did!!
I fly better now for it.
ONE LAST THING. This guy suggested that the Power vs. Collective amounts were not properly mixed for training gear. HE suggested that the collective was too much for too little power because of the weight of the training gear.
Bottom line is the shake went away after the training gear came off. SO I guess he was right.
Kirk
PS. I was KIDDING about being an expert!! I hope everyone realizes that.

Thanks for the replys ..
Kirk... I know you are fairly new to this as well.. been following all the posts for a while. Just with you having the same(similar) bird I figured it was good to single you out
I used the throttle pitch and hover pitch dials to fiddle while hovering and I could make the wobble go away, only to have it appear at another rpm/pitch. So it must be the hoop. I'm not quite ready to dump it yet either.
Now if this cold front would leave I could go get some more practice in .
Cheers all.
