I am wondering on how many people use a heli pad? I am finishing up my second one and I am making my second one better.

I dont, However where I fly has a nice concret pad so I dont really need one. one place I fly I could use one as the grass can get rather high and my tail rotor likes to turn green lol but I usally dont fly there.

I do but there's no way I would land with it on top of a bar stool
I made a simple landing pad with a 24" square piece of 3/4" plywood on top of a box frame of 2x4's

In the front yard I use a scrap piece of plexiglass. Gets me out of the grass (it's too wet to mow it for at least another 3/4 weeks) and gives me a target to practice landings.
When I'm able to go to the school playground the grass is patchy and short so no need to carry anything with.

I'm now thinking of making one to bring at a soccer field where I fly my CP helis next time I get to fly. I got one of the tail blades of my Mini Titan chipped when it hit a small stone in the field on landing.

I use a 4ft by 4ft piece of plywood, hinged in the middle for folding it up, with a rubber mat glued to it. The grass is usually pretty high at the field where I fly, and my Gaui Hurricane 550 is fairly large.
