I've just bought a new servo for my black angel and think it needs more power from the ESC, What I want to know is can I put a BEC on and leave the ESC wired the way it is now or would I have to cut the two of the three wires going from ESC to the RX, and just use the BEC for powering the RX etc.,
What I'd like to do is use my ESC with it's own built in 3 amp bec and just run another BEC to channel 7 on my RX,
my set up is a Turnigy plush 40amp ESC with 3 hitec 65MG servos and a HSG-5084MG + spartan ds760 giro with a futaba R617FS + scorpion motor 2221-8

Having 2 becs hooked up usually causes a lot of "unwanted smoke".[
] When you use a separate bec you will need to disconnect the red wire from your esc/bec. It should be the middle wire on the 3 wire connector.

Normally you cannot use two BECs connected at the come time, as they will try and fight each other, resulting in the weaker one burning out.
What you can do is disconnect the red wire from the weaker BEC so it doesn't power anything in the radio system.
You could also use some extra wires like "Y" connectors etc. and wire up some servos to use one BEC and some others to use the other BEC. Some of the huge giant scale folks use a method like that to power all those high power servos in their huge planes. The trick is everything has a common ground (the black wire), so that the signals go to everything like normal. But they selectively power everything with the multiple BECs in the plane, by keeping the red wires separate from each other.
I hope that makes sense.

yes it does make sense, thanks, you stoped me making a mistake, guss the best way for me to go would be a higher powered BEC, over 3 AMP's would be better than my ESC,and cut the red one from my ESC,

I usually carefully pull the red wire pin out of the connector and use a piece of tape to tape it back out of the way. You never know, you might want to use the ESC in something else in the future.
You can usually get the tip of a X-acto knife blade under the little tab in the connector, and lift it up a little bit, and then you can pull and slip the connector pin out.
