Hirobo Freya thoughts???

My flyin buddy has one. All I can say is WOW!
He has a Webra .61 P5 in it and it's still on the rich side as it's new. It's very stable in a hover but can do anything you are capable of doing. He's learning to do votex's with it and they are looking good. If I needed another heli I would consider a Freya. I really like 'em! |

Simon kindly posted my long term review of the Freya in littlerotors.com

Hirobo Freya thoughts???
Hey Daz I thought you just got a Venture. Looking to upgrade already ;) :D?
|
Hirobo Freya thoughts???
brc007, surprised?
|
Hirobo Freya thoughts???
brc007, yep looking to upgrade to a 60, by no means will I be parting with my Venture, but I would like a Heli that flies with more authroity(power). The Venture I will be flying for awhile, as I'm going to have to put my next Heli together, and I will still be using the Venture for practice.
I'm now looking at the Freya because the price is right, and so far I have been getting good thoughts on them. Any other thoughts apreciated. Thanks, Daz... |
specs?
Does the Freya have plastic frames? Belt or torque tube for the tail? Can anyone who has good knowledge of the Freya and the Fury compare and contrast the head and the other parts between the two?
Thanks, Rick |
Hirobo Freya thoughts???
zillions of words have been spilled over
Freya vs. Fury on thihs system and at r-u-n-r-y-d-e-r (done because apparently THIS system censors out that name. F that.). Perhaps do a search? Freya has plastic frames (4 piece stack) and a belt driven tail. Fury is G10 2 piece frame and a tube drive tail. The Fury weighs significantly less than a Freya. Lotsa 'well, if you upgrade the Freya to tube tail, it's really expensive' comments. You don't need it. |
Freya
The Freya is awesome out of the box. It has plastic frames and is belt driven and has a driven tail. Cheap to maintain and cheap to fix, but flys like a dream.
I have put about 25 gallons through mine and it still flys like a dream. It can do anything a Fury can do. I have a YS80 in mine with an 11 tooth pinion and a 93 tooth main gear and IMO this is the perfect combo for the Freya. Darren |

z11355: www.********.com, so please watch your language, a search is good, but sometimes folks want to have a answer where they can ask questions back, so just chill :)
---------- edited: well now that is new and not good... freedom of speech, i guess not, RCU better change that..., sorry about that z11355 :) ---------- almost any 60 size is good and flies well, the more you pay the more quality, BB and carbon you get... |
Hirobo Freya thoughts???
The amount of carbon fiber has absolutely nothing to do with how well a helicopter flies. As far as that goes...you don't have to spend $2000 on a heli to have a great flying and performing heli.
I had an Exell Pro prior to buying my Freya....once I got my Freya I realized what flying was all about and I sold my Pro. Restated: Money or the amount of carbon fiber has nothing to do with how well a helicopter flies. Total BS. Darren |
Hirobo Freya thoughts???
dirty,
i agree with you, but if you read my post carefully, it does not state any different... :) carbon is more expensive than plastic, cheap plastic (craptor) brakes easier than expensive plastic (heim). plastic adds weight. money has nothing to do with how well a heli flys, but good quality parts, good BB/TB and good design... :) |
Freya vs Fury
I just started flying my 91 powered Freya. At 8 oz, 1/2 lb more than a Fury, so what. On 15% nitro, the Freya has more than enough power. The Freya is a stronger machine than the Fury because of the Plastic frames. If you want a lighter Freya, a Freya with G10 sides, metal yoke, and elevator mixing arms is about to be released, about the same price as a Fury Extreme.
The Freya is belt drive and most people do not have belt issues. CCPM, I personally could care less about it. The Fury Extreme is an awesome machine. Much more complex to build than a Freya. Yesterday at the field I saw the Fury manual for the first time. Miniature needs to hire a technical writer to redo their manual. Its horrible. The Freya manual text wise isn't great either, but the exploded view diagrams for each sub section is enough to easily build the assembly. The Xcell line is an excellent heli. You definetly get a lot for the money in a Fury, any Fury. Is it better than a Freya? They are so close and 99% of the people flying couldn't tell anyway so it is a mute point. If you are not an experienced heli builder, an Xcell is a tough build. Get a Freya. If you have built multiple Xcell's, the Fury is much easier than any other Xcell prior. Get what you like. |
Aaaahhhh
Daz says he wants his 60 to be THE heli he flies and keeps for a while. To me, that means you shy away from the cheap plastic parts of the Raptor and Freya, and go with an Xcell. I know I'm biased, but I don't want Daz to be sad after he gets a 60, parks it on the table next to my Fury Expert, and realizes the difference in quality before he even turns it on.
I'm not crazy am I?!? I haven't gone to the dark side have I?!? Rick |

Rick,
He won't be sad. You may but he won't. I have both, both are great machines. The fury has some pretty anodized stuff but that doesn't make it higher quality. If he wants an easy to build, easy to maintain, and great flying bird, out of the 2 there is only one choice, the Freya. If he does not mind building, and a little more difficult to maintain, great flying mahine, then it will be harder to decide. BTW- this is not my first X-cell machine, and yes it easier to build than the others but still not as easy as a JR or Hirobo. |

I flew my "cheap plastic Freya" for the first time yesterday. I am very pleased with it and glad I bought it. I'll set it next to my brother's fury and still be pleased.

Hirobo Freya thoughts???
Just think about that beautiful fiberglass painted up all nice canopy on the Fury....then imagine what it looks like after a crash...and then think about what it costs to replicate it after a crash.
Just one example why a Freya is more practical to fly and maintain. I have never flown a Fury and I bet they are awesome machines, but I have seen both fly by the same person and there was no difference in performance. Actually if I buy another heli it will be a Fury, but I will always have my Freya. Darren |

fyi...there is very little editing done here and when it is done it's for a reason...I do what I honestly feel is in the best interest of the users here and sending or promoting people to RR is in my opinion not a wise move. I'm aware of censorship and editing practices that go on over at RR and I cannot with a clear mind allow unwitting users to go read what may be posted there and be under the impression that what they see is necessarily what the user originally posted.
I've stopped frequenting RR since both my posts as well as others were edited or censored with no note or notice (including references to RCU by other people). If people find it on their own than that is their issue to deal with and eventually they will realize what happens over there but I'm not sending those who are "innocent" to that site...all the other heli sites are uncensored as you see above. If posts are edited or censored here you know when, who and why period! Such is not the case everywhere.... |
I appologize
Ooops, I did not mean to offend any Raptor or Freya owners. It was merely my opinion that Xcells are higher quality based on my limited knowledge of the plastic helis above, but I may certainly be wrong. I have been very impressed with the way Daz's Venture flies (except for the lack of speed when compared to a 60), and I have no doubt that a plastic 60 can fly very well too. After all, we all know the most important thing is not the heli, but the squishy fleshy thing behind the sticks :D :D :D
Sincerely, Rick P.S. - Can someone please remove the Nike out of the hole in my face.... |
Rappy Suck Fury Suck All Heli's Suck
They Suck the money right out of your wallet... LOL :p

Hirobo Freya thoughts???
I've been surfing the Web, getting info on the Freya, and everything I have read so far has been real good user opinions. I understand its plastic, but my Venture is plastic, and I really like it. According to what I have read you can put an 80 size engine in it, and it is only 6 oz. heavier than the Fury, is 6 oz. that much with Heli's
This topic seems to be one of those that no two are gonna agree on, but at least we're down to 2 Heli's, that's good. I wanted to order this Heli today, I will just have to do more homework, until I get more decided. But honestly right now, the Freya is looking pretty good. Daz... |
See they do Suck
