stripped my cooling head (glow plug thread), any other solution but to buy a new one?

You can get a Heli-coil put in it and it will be better than new. It is 1/4" 32 thread so isn't common. Walter Lee does them for around $5 as I understand. I hope somone can post the address here. I've seen it but didn't save it.

is part# HC5521-4 at http://www.contractorstools.com/helicoil1.html the right one?

The ones they list are 1/4" by 20 threads per inch and 28 threads per inch. The type you need is 1/4" with 32 threads per inch. They are hard to find.

company named Harry Higgly used ta sell a glow plug helicoil kit. look at tower hobbies for em, great plains/hobbico may have bought em out.
clarence lee of engine clinic, RCM, does glow plug thread repairs.
