heli spin to the left in hover
twice when I was hovering my heli turn around 180 degree. It was windy outside, but I flew in worst condition than this and this never happen. The heli was sitting for two weeks because of the bad weather. couple of weeks ago I switch my s148 with hitec digital 5625. I have the avcs switch off on my gy240. I don't know if its the servo, the combination, or the way I have the adjustment on the gy240. when I was using my s148 the only problem I had was the servo will become sloppy very fast. the heli spin to the left. Also the heli I notice the tail was wagging alot especially in fast forward flight.

wagging
The gain on the gyro is too high if the tail hunt's or wag's in fast forward flight. Tim.

Ya! That sounds right. I guess I never thought about that before. That shows you how observant I am  .

Originally posted by heli_fear hmm..I have the same gyro with a s148 and no problems so far, though I can understand why you would want to get more familiar with the heli why turn off the avcs? doesn't that give you far better performance especially when going in foward flight? |

You need to put the gyro in the avcs mode. This is the heading hold mode. The reason the servo does not center in the mode is because the gyro is trying to find the hold spot( the spot where you positioned the rudder) You cannot look at it while it is sitting on the table. It will never center in this mode while sitting stationary because the heli never moved(see instructions). When flying it just holds the rudder where you last put. Don't be afraid! Avcs is made for beginners! I have one in my raptor. On a very windy days the tail will still sit rock solid. You will find that flying will be much easier.
