let me explain


first, try to loose a gear screw in flight to obtain the required configuration

then perform a deadstick like the one showed in this video

please right click and save target

if done properly, you will be able to hover like this for a very short period

this is one of the 3D master Salmonbug's trick !

Funny. I watched my brother try to land his Li'l Tony with the landing gear in the exact same configuration.

He stalled it into the tall grass at the end of the runway with no damage.

I had a Doghouse extreame do the same thing, flew around abit shaking and throwing the sticks every way I could. Finally dropped off.

Just a couple months ago a member in our club had to attempt the very same landing with the gear turned 90 degrees on his UCD. However he wasn’t as lucky, the other LG bolt broke on first contact, putting two rather large holes in the bottom of the wing.

why doesnt anyone try to land upside down anymore? it seems to cause less damage at our club!

Believe me or not I considered that option also when I was turning above the field hoping the second gear screw would come loose and that I would lost the entire gear for safe belly landing.

I arrived to the conclusion that If I missed that tricky manoeuvre in deadstick, the damage would be worse than the ones I expected with a conventional atempt
