Hi:
try to watch the "prop off video" in www.troybuiltmodels.com
great scene with a 33% ultimate 3 feet from the ground and the prop WQENT OFF!!! during the hover.
This prooves that a piano, since does not have a prop, will not fly either!!
Enjoy.

Just goes to show why you should stand BEHIND your plane when checking the throttle transitions, because I can only amagine what would happen if that hit somone that was 3 feet away

Safety is a concern in very size models. Once a friend was adjusting a OS 91 four stroke in his new Top Flite AT-6, and 5 or 6 fellows came around the working bench just to see the new one. (they were stupidly confident) I back off to my models, when this guy wanted to check the needle settings with the model in vertical position. So he pointed it upwards and push the throttle stick al, theb way quickly. ...the engine rattle once and prop went off and hit the zinc plank that cover the boxes area. If he would not point it up...3 or 4 guys could be hurted badly in the face or wherever!!!

He he. I had the prop come off my RV-4 a little while back. The noise the engine made sounded like it was in pain. Found the prop and spinner complete with prop nut, put em back on and kept flying.

Thanks for this video. I needed it. We have been having a long standing "discussion" at our club about props coming off. We recently made a rule change to have the planes started facing away from the spectator area, for fear of this very thing. Some in the club argued that it was impossible for a prop to fly off in this manner. They say that when a prop comes off, it will fly to the side, and lose energy within a foot or 2. This video completely disproves that. I am glad to have video proof rather than anecdotal evidence to dispute their claims. Thank you.

You don´t have nothing to thank for.
The only thing is that the -making of- of this funny video was around $1500 and some more in a psiquiatric therapy for the pilot who now only wants to fly sailplanes.

This is scary and funny at the same time.
I really admire his skill at "landing" it - I would have just said "Oh S*&^" and crashed it.
Does anyone know how much damage was done??

Doesnt look too bad.
For those who think props just fly off to the side that vids proof, but so is a YS 140 detonating! apparently nothing will stand in the props' way. Thats why after starting you never throttle up until youre behind the prop............
