I've been going into our local hobby shop for over thirty years. I watched the current owners flying their dad's pattern ship when they were just barely old enough to hold the radio and reach the sticks.
So we've had this contiuning and friendly argument about which radio is superior. They sell JR's and I fly Futaba. I own and fly JR's too so let's not turn this into a radio pi$$ing contest. I like them both, but part of the routine at the LHS is the ribbing about radios.
I walk in one day and they are talking to a new customer about the virtues of the JR system on the counter. The owner pointed at me an exclaimed for all to hear that "even he has a JR". I said. "That's right and I maked sure that I put that radio in my best airplane".
Well this pleased the owner to no end, but before he could get another word out I continued,"If I run out of fuel and have to set the plane down in the tall grass the chattering of those cheap JR servos make it much easier to find the plane".
Needless to say my LHS guy was dumb struck sputtering away for a comeback. He never did, much to my pleasure. He did sell the customer the system. But now all I have to do is walk in the door and his brother starts laughing.

LOL! That's PRICELESS!
Here's one from the other side, just to join in on the fun.
I have, until recently, flown exclusively JR. Now, to be honest, i really don't CARE one way or the other...I like my Futaba equipment, I like my JR equipment, and it all works just fine in whatever plane I'm flying with it. I've NEVER understood the whole "Ford/Chevy JR/Futaba etc etc" thing. But, like any good RC'er, I don't go to the field to fly...I go to swap barbs with everyone else...the flying only provides ammunition.
(admittedly, some of us provide more ammunition than others, but that's another thread...right Tom?
)
ANYway, since it would be inexcuseable to express my actual views, I took any chance I could to espouse the virtues of JR equipment, and lament the poor slobs who had to settle for Futaba.
Last summer, our club held a heli contest. There were several nice items being given away during the lunch break via a raffle. Tickets were $1 each. One of the items was a brand new Futaba 9CAP radio system. When it was time to draw the ticket for this item, the CP invited one of the flyers, who is a Futaba rep and team Futaba pilot, to come up and draw the winner.
As he dipped his hand into the can, someone in the crowd shouted "That IS a FUTABA radio you're drawing for, right ____???" "Are there any OTHER radios?" he yelled back.
My response?
"Well, yeah, but if it was a JR system the tickets woulda been $10 each and we'd need security to contain the crowds."
