Well I found another shot that I have ties to. The plane on the top belongs to Florida Tech where I attended college. An acquaitance of mine was flying it at the time (solo night flight) when this occured. No one was hurt in this incident, and at least the plane on top flew again shortly after the incident. I actually flew the plane some time after the repairs and someone had put a small sticker on the panel that said 'do not land on airplanes'. I'd mention something about the Piper being in heat or chasing tail but instead I'll leave it to you guys.

I'd say that little Cessna is going to need a bigger engine to do a succesful piggyback!

So what's the real story? It looks like a prank to me.

In order for this to happen one was taking off and the other was landing at nearly the same speed. They would have to hit right on and remained balanced at high speed and stop with all kinds of funny aerodynamics going on.

Actually they were both landing when they hit in the air. The planes locked together and they got on the ground without crashing. Classic low-winger above a high-winger. Not a prank.

Add "twin engine" to that biplane description.

Actually the FAA has a new safety mod out just for this...

All fixed high wing aircraft shall be equipped with a periscope.

All low wing aircraft shall be equipped with a urination tube/peep hole. Handi wipes for eyeball are optional.

I think the Germans experimented with a combo similar to that during W.W.II

Not a caption, but you can tell that cessna is built for students to bash the crap outta it when landing. A 2000 pound plane and the gear doesn't completely flatten out!

Caption:

In an interview, Cletus said he is lucky to have won the spot landing competition.
