I started rigging my Bobcat this morning. I've got a couple of questions allready. Does anyone have a good way to do the fuel vent out the bottom of the plane? I have the BVM overflow tank. Also I am having trouble getting those little screws for the gear doors to thread into the aluminum. That's it so far. Thanks in advance.

Sir, The overflow tube is shown on plans just to right of UAT.(sitting in A/C). Hardwood block drilled for brass tube then glue/ exit through bottom of fuse. The small screws need a start hole to begin! Use a 4-40 tap to just break the hole and then self tap screws. Hope this helps. WHMC

Here's one way to get the overflow tube out of the bottom.
Make a 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 maple block, and drill a 3/16 hole through the center of the 1/2 inch thickness. Radius the bottom of the block to suit the contour of the lower fuselage immediatly aft of F-2. Aeropoxy the block to the bottom of the fuselage and the aft face of F-2 right on the centerline. After the Aeropoxy has cured, drill through the 3/16 hole through the bottom fuselage skin. You now have a place to install a 3/16 dia. brass tube through the bottom of the fuselage. I made my hole off center favoring the front (toward F-2) and soldered a tab to the brass tube and screwed it to the maple block with a no. 2 allen head sheet metal screw. The vent tube should exit the fuselage skin about 1/2 to 5/8 inch to allow you to hook up the BVM "Start and Taxi Tank."
Bevel the brass tube toward the front to get ram air pressure into the tube while in flight.
The tube can extend upward into the fuselage about 3 to 4 inches, with a gentle bend upward and back toward the wing leading edge. That is where the overflow/vent line will exit the top wing skin. Install the UAT, and make sure that the tube clears it . Allow room for servo wires coming from the center of the wing, and the retract valve. Hook up the vent line, and you're home free.

Drill the aluminum plate out with a number 50 drill (.070), and that's it!
Hope this works for you. I have 50 flights on mine with this set-up.

Harley, Good idea on changing location of fuel vent from F-3 to center of F-2. Its to late for me as I followed BVM PLANS. My retract door/ speed brake straps were steel not alu., however the kits may have been changed. WHMC
