Is there really a need? Ask a question and you will get an answer from either Barry or I....
How can we help?

Amen! Todd

By the way, sorry about the scale of your test stand, the #53 K-170 busted it up pretty bad didn't it?

yeah, put that in one of your F-15s and it'll still have a lighter wing loading than a full scale of 80#/sqft, did you just come back from tj?

Hi,

I think putting up a turbine clinic for Kingtech may be something worth considering... rather than having to wait for a reply (yes, I know you guys reply fast), if the problem had been addressed before in a previous thread in the clinic, it can be easily found since all threads related to the engine are inside that same sub forum.

Misunderstood...

I have been testing K-170E Engine #53. For some reason my scale on the test stand is getting an overload error with trust readings over 37lbs, the K-170 is exceeding this quite easily.

We are still trying to work out the settings for this engine. Personally, I think the engine is a bit underrated, this engine has the ability to produce over 40lbs without any negative side effects ..... #53 has been tested down to 0 acceleration/deceleration setting with no sign of the engine laboring; no coughing or sputtering during acceleration. We have been testing with a new pump model from flightworks and although it seems to perform well, I think there is more potential in the engine than the pump is providing.

Will be testing more on Friday, will let you know what thrust we get out of the engine on a Hausel pump at 125K...

Todd,

Are you spinning the K-170 125,000RPM?

Not currently... so far my tests have been at 123K with over 37lbs at between 83 and 89F ambient.

Sorry for the confusion, it is #53 not 53#.
Here's another test done on #001, K-170 back in August under intense Southern California sunshine [8D], notice that the temperatures were all well under 600C, nice and comfy
