I charge my A123 pack at 2.3 Ah also known as 1C. Make sure the charger is set to the correct cell type.

Jose,

I have been charging my Electrodynamic A123 batteries through the balance port with CellPro 4S, Multi 4, and 10s chargers that I bought from Electrodynamics. I have been using them in prop and jet planes.
I have used Spektrum AR-7000, AR-9100 and JR R921, R1222, R1221 receivers with the A123 batteries without regulators. I am using a mix of new and old, digital and analog, Futaba, Hitec, Spektrum and JR servos. I have not had any problems.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Good Luck,

John

Hi John thank you for help, and, good hear you,
my setup tx/rx are FUTABA 2.4 FASST ( 12FGA TX and R6014HS RX ), because that, i use regulator, i always used NICAD in my jets without problem.
what you thank about my FUTABA setup, the other servos of the plane are ok ( others HITEC and JR ), i had problem ( burned ) only the TITANIUM GEAR 5955 in FLAPs, when i trim the JET PLANE today.

thank's for help again john, let me know your opinion

any chance the flap servos were binding prior to 'trim the jet' and that's what caused the problem rather then the batteries????

Ditto for me too...no problems at all running direct A123 voltage.

I run five 5955's off two 2 cell A123's and have done for about two years in a QQ Yak without problems, this is fitted with Futaba on 2.4Ghz now and still no problems.

I allso have six 7955 and one 5955 in a Rookie again without problems on a 6014 admittedly with an Orbit power jack fitted which regulates the voltage to 5.9, I would suspect the linkages rather than the servo's, being Digital and Titanium geared they would be pulling a lot of Amps in a stalled condition and I think would burn out very quickly.

i dont know KC36330...
I trim the jet with all servos turned on, the jet ready to maiden flight, i thinks not posible, but, is posible the high voltage ( 6,1 V ) in HITEC 5955, but, is a heavy duty servo, to use in large planes.
well, i change the servos 5955 to 5645

Jose,
I do not know about the Futaba receivers.
I agree that it sounds like your servos may have been stalled, you could check the new servos with a Hangar 9 digital servo and receiver current meter part # han172. That would tell you how many milliamps your servos are drawing in each position.
Regards,
John

Your servos burnt because they were overloaded by some mechanical issue. The A123 delivers the power. IF they were binding, they can burn the pots because the gear train wont fail.

You dont need regulators on A123's but its ok if you do..

Disconnect the flap pushrods from the flap horn before switching on with the new servos. Then switch on & check the movement of the flap pushrod against the flap horn. You may find the movement is too much, causing the servo to bind when connected to the flap. A bind situation will burn out the servos very fast.

Hi Goose and Jascat100,

i think is posible that situation, my flap scraped on fuselage ( i saw the painting on fuselage last night ), i think is posible 2 situation over voltage ( 6,2 on output reg ) and the scraped, these servos had 600 flignts very well in my ELAN.
I change the servos for 2 5645 and we make ajustment on flaps and fuselage.

I have another doubt on A123, 2 packs with 2.3 ah, with 15 servos ( HITEC 5645, JR8711, JR821 ), how many flights i make before chargethank's guys for help

Jose,

The best way to find out is to fully charge your batteries, fly one flight and recharge the batteries, check how many ma go into the batteries. That way you know how many ma you use per flight.

I usually use about 300 ma per 10 minute flight, so I recharge every three to five flights.

jose,
If you change from 5955 to 5645 you are going from excellent servos to mediocre sport servos. they may be adequate for flaps but are not as good as the 5955. Stay with the Titanium geared servos, they can handle the voltage. No digital servo can handle the binding without overheating.

I agree to you, but, they are the ones that I have in hands at the moment, I go to provide TG5955 or JR8611, my other servos are installed on F86 and BANDITs.
