How Fast

If I remember correctly mine was a pretty consistent 165mph in level flight on a hot day with the engine leaned out as much as I dared. It might break 175 in a steep dive.
The F/A-18 is not a speed demon by any means, but it flys good and it looks great in the air and on a good landing approach.

>>>s0o0o0o would you say this is 1 for new 1 to jets???>>>
i would say not......due to a narrow stance and crosswind effects it is considered not to be an entry level plane..........if your talking turbines a roo and the like are excellent....as far as df goes someone else will have to chime in

I gotta chime in on this one, A DF= a single gas or glow( most are glow) engine with an impeller bolted directly to the prop mount, start'er up and fly away

Actually....I deleted it myself....This guy is not worth wasting my time on. If he was really interested in learning about jets his replies would be more than half a sentence. I am happy to educate people that wish to learn....
Dont beat on the Mods...they have a very tough and thankless job and in my opinion are doing a fantastic job of keeping this forum under control when the lines are crossed.

ohhh you deleted it,I thought a mod snagged it.I hear ya on that tho man about guys who want answers then when you try to steer them in the right direction they dont wanna comply or listen or just shrug their shoulders. There is a dude at our field now that wants to fly jets, but yet doesnt wanna hear anything we have to say.And he'll be the one that crashes the damn thing on takeoff cause hes too good to take helpful advice or join the learning curve.I have no intention of helping him now ,and I will be sitting on the barrier when he plows it in.We will just say told ya so bozo! there is alwways one of those gizmos in the crowd

Starbucks,
To be honest, I dont think your quite ready for the leap into "Jets"! You have to be willing to take the time to educate yourself, Jets are much more complicated than your typical sport airplane and require quite a bit of knowledge to be successful with them. If your not even willing to take the time to write a complete sentence your certainly not mature enough to enter this field of RC. In addition, the cost of a Jet aircraft is probably outside your financial means. I will suggest however that if you truly want to get into jets you start with a more complex prop airplane that has retracts and flaps. This would be a good start in the learning process. Perhaps something like this http://www.cermark.com/Merchant2/mer...egory_Code=AAA would be a good place for you to start.

However, I think I can speak for the majority in saying that for us to be willing to spend the time typing up answers to others' questions, we want to know that there is a reasonable chance that we are not simply wasting our time.
If you write really vague questions then in order to try to properly answer your questions we would have to type in pages & pages of information in the hope that something that we typed might be what you are looking for. If we did that, you may only care about 5% of what we typed - in which case 95% of the time we spent trying to help was wasted. Just as you don't like typing detailed questions, others don't like typing in unnecessary information just because you won't be specific.
How about you try again, and be willing to spend at least as much time providing a detailed question, as you expect others to spend providing a detailed answer ?

I don't in any way mean this to come across as putting you down - just trying to explain how a different approach may get you much more of the info you are looking for.
Regards,
Gordon

Nicely said Gordon. Todd, can I borrow that sledgehammer when you're done with it? LOL! Just kiddin' bud. I was also a little impatient with Starbucks after the Maine Jet Rally thread, which is why I ignored this one.
Starbucks, why don't you get a ride to the Maine Jet Rally on September 6 + 7th. It's only 2.5 hours from you. Ask your folks, a friend or bribe a sibling. After you get done ooooing and aaaaaing, ask a lot of questions about how people started, why they chose certain equipment etc. If you are respectful, polite and express genuine interest you will learn a lot at events such as this. Ask for me when you get here and I will show you around and do my best to answer your questions. Enough said.
