Pirotti Tuono

Hi guys
I'm not much of a fan of sport jets but this one does catch my eye. Has anyone got one? What's the quality like? Any problems with the build etc...
I saw them on the jet power thread and have watched the vids but was wondering if a real customer has got one and what their thoughts are.
Many thanks
Alex

Hey Alex,
I've finally got mine painted, just trying to make some time to go out and fly it again now. It's a sweet flying bird, and I logged a bunch of flights on my Tuono over the summer, their is a video on YouTube from Kentucky Jets of it - [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKknCbeSGDk]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKknCbeSGDk[/link]
A JetCat P-160SX is installed. Mine was an early kit (received in May) and they've made some minor changes/improvements to the kits being delivered now. Since it was going to paint, I've added winglets, afterburner and nav lights.
I know there's quite a few out there that have them and are building them, sure they'll chime in also.

Hi Alex,
A friend of mine just received his kit pre painted from Mauro, the kit quality and paint job looks fantastic, with plenty of carbon all round this airframe looks strongly built too.
You would be very satisfied with the quality and i was surprised how fast the airframe was built and delivered to India in custom paint scheme after ordering it at JP this year.
Chatty.

I flew it at Jetpower 2010 with Shui and loved it:

Here is mine being painted at Mauro's.. Pirotti models are doing a great job at building / painting this airplane !
The winglets / tip lights are made by Pirotti specifically for the Tuono.

Thanks guys.
It does look good! Did you all order directly or is there a European distributor? thanks for the info, love the winglets and lights, will have to get that option.
Cheers, Alex

I'm building one of these now... quite a nice kit
and very good glue joints from the factory
I'm going to paint it here using automotive basecoat/clearcoat in the NAVY T-45 scheme
see attached pic of my 2mVIPER in the same scheme!
also attached is a translation of the Italian instructions but this is really not needed
sincethe supplied manualhas excellent pictures
Also I'm using a WRENPRO 160 which fits nicely in the turbine bay and using this turbine
with the new longer length thrust tube allowed me to balance without adding weight!

Marc - as Lior said, they're made for the Tuono, but I do know they're available as an option, so being the crafty person you are, I'm sure you'd be able to modify them to fit your project.
Rob - I had them permanently mounted/faired in prior to painting, the lights/lens is held in place with flush mount button head screws if I ever have to get in there.
Carlos, thanks, and I liked that T-bird scheme you came up with on the Turbinator!
May have to do that.
Pirotti is doing custom finishes to kits if you chose to go that route, seeing his work first hand at Jet Power left no question to his skill. I also learned he used to be a professional automotive painter/airbrush artist which shows in his work.

Iforgot, another nice detail about the TUONOis that
all you have to do to assemble it at the field is to attach the two
outer wing panels with 1 servo connection per panel and 1 anchor bolt
per panel. So getting ready to fly is a snap!!!

I was at the factory visiting with Mauro Piroti in October, I have to tell you , it was an awesome visit, Mauro is a great guy, with many ideas in his brain.
You can bet more good stuff will come out of this factory...

That picture shows nicely the only thing that stopped me pulling the trigger on this at JetPower - the canopy!
Mauro, go on, lower it a little bit to streamline things
And yes, Mauro and the guys are real nice guys.
