Glue
These are industrial adhesives. The are prefilled with a silica based filler, and are thixotropic (ie they don't run).
They come in a special applicator tube, so they need a gun and possibly tips to dispense and mix them (although I never use the tips any more). The system assures proper ratios of the two parts.
All of the technical specifications for these adhesives is available, I have never seen them for the hobby glues.
My experience is the hysol products are very strong, and much more likely to be mixed correctly than hobby glues.
As for this group buy, Kevin have you thought about buying some 9460F? This has the same or better specs than 9462, and it dries much faster (in about 1/2 the time). It is gray. If anyone else will go I will get half a case of the 9460F. Let me know.
BTW I appreciate what you are doing here.

Matt,
If no one else wants any 9460F, I'll split a case with ya. I've never used the 9460F before. I like the long working time of the 9462 but there have been times that I wanted a faster curing version. I've just been hitting it (9462) with a little heat if applicable. I'll call the distributor to see if I can get it and if there is a price difference.
Bill,
If you do not have an application gun you can get one at McMaster/Carr for $20

I'm in for half a case of 9460F. LMK (just post it here) how much and I will Paypal the cash as soon as I hear (read) from you...or I can send you the amount that the 9462 would be...and if it's more or less we can settle later...your choice.

Sideshow,
I think that the 9460F is a couple of cents cheaper than 9462. If I can't get the 9460F do you want me to get you the 9462 instead??? If not, then just wait until you hear from me on Monday evening. If so, pay at your convenience and we'll settle up later if there happens to be any big difference in price.

The next time we are gluing formers we will call you and you can come over and stand there with a heat gun for an hour and a half curing the glue. personally I don't think that will happen. see you in Lubbock.

HOUR AND A HALF
No doubt!!!!
A hour and a half with a heat gun just shot your whole bargain idea in the ass... I heat gun for 1.5 hrs probably uses $5.00 bucks worth of electricity!!! You guy's are killing me!!! Why must we dissect every aspect of this hobby... Gas it and go man!!! Have fun!!!
TTFN,
Danno

9460F
I have not been that impressed with the 9460F that I have used...At my local Fastenal place, they are the same price at 6.60/tube so I can go either way.......
I thought the handling time and cure time would be substantially faster than 9462.....but at my usual shop temp of about 70 F, the handling time of 9460F is about 3-4 hours, and 9462 about 5-6 hours.....in either case, you are not going to hand-hold pieces together like you might with 5,15, or even 30 minute epoxies...it is going to require clamping or motionless parts in either case...
The ultimate setting time at 77F according to Hysol specs is at least 3 days to get up to the 3500-4000psi shear strength..for both of them....
The resins are essentially identical with only a faster hardener...
The reason I bring this up is that I really don't like the dark grey mess that you get with 9460F vs the neater appearance of the almost white 9460.....it's almost essential to paint the interior when using 9460F to make it look neat, and white paint doesn't cover it with one coat....once a little smear of the gray stuff gets on plywood or porous fiberglass surface, it's there forever....I usually do paint my interiors, but I know not everyone does....
Just a little OCD on my part shining thru.... :>))
I found that careful, medium-temp heatgunning with 9462 is the best way to cut you cure times down to reasonable values, but I don't trust using that method for bonds that are so critical like the bulkhead for the nose gear flex arms in a Bandit, for instance.....a little too much heat and it gets very brittle....try it with either glue on a sheet of waxpaper if you don't believe it.....those 180 F temps are spec'd for controlled oven cures, IMO.
I use heat most often when doing fillets around hatches and canopies, and equiptment trays, etc. where it seem fine.....

9460F
I just got off of the phone with the distributor and 9460F is available for the same price.
Also---Mixing Nozzles are available for $6.30/10 for those that asked. (Add .63 for sales tax and add .50 for PayPal fees for every 10 ordered. This may or may not be a good deal for you...Just posting this for those that asked. No extra shipping charges if shipped with adhesive.

By my count, Kevin has saved over $800.00 collectively to the modelers in on this deal over the "other" advertised price prior to this thread. To those that stuck their nose up at this deal, it's like Kevin said, you can lead a horse to water..................
Kevin, I hope the tips get you a pizza and a beer. With the savings you've put together for us, we could have bought you a whole lot more. Thanks for the efforts.
