Default What Colors for Military F-16?

I am ready to paint my first ducted fan jet. It's a Byron F-16. I want to finish it similar to the Hill AFB scheme or standard gray camo colors. Does anyone know the names of these colors or how to mix them.

Thanks.

Default F-16 colors

This should answer part of your question..

As for mixing it, it depends on what type of paint you'll be using, etc.

I've always had great success with Testors Model Master enamels overcoated with a fuelproof clear (LustreKote, Automotive, etc.

Why not do it in the current production colors, this would certainly gain some attention, specially on sacle events.

Also try:

www.aeroloft.com for all sort of ANG and USAF decals for your falcon.

I don't have anything against the boys from Hill, but there are many other cool looking schemes.

Good luck with your falcon!

Default colors

I used to be in the USAF and I can tell you one thing, they repaint planes pretty regularly and a lot of base paint shops have simplified the schemes they have to paint. This is the same reason quite a few F-16s also no longer have every darn "no step" marking they had when they came from the factory; too much work and too time consuming to replicate. I've got an F-16 I'm going to be painting in the correct four color grey scheme F-16s are supposed to wear. I'm basing my colors on a current unit which is flying in Korea and still paints their planes the correct way. Actually, the markings on my plane will be from the F-16 unit based at Eielson AFB in Alaska. The correct FS numbers are:

radome: FS36270 radome grey
bottom: FS36375 light ghost grey
forward fuselage: FS36320 dark ghost grey
(this is also the same color for the fin and the two smaller fins on the bottom of the plane)
majority of the top: FS36118 gunship grey

Beware however, if you use these colors your bird is going to be hard to see!

I was rummaging for colors and came across this website.

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorch...olorcharts.asp

pretty nice site, scroll down to United States area and select. they have the colors by aircraft and era, if you click on the color it gives you a nice sample on a black background. now I wonder if this monitor is calibrated worth a darn...
