Default Beware dealing with Modellbau Pollack Germany

On the 7th March, I purchased a Dv8r on E-Bay from this company. Shipping was to all EU countries (Cyprus is in the EU) & they accepted my payment .
On the 20th March, They sent me this e-mail.

Hello James

Your DV8R come in to the end of March.

After we received it I will send to you to Cyprus .

Best regards

Gerhard Pollack

Today, I was told by E-Bay that Pollack had cancelled my purchase, the reason being, he does not deliver to Cyprus??? I have gone to extra expense, ordering the Dv8r landing gear package from Dreamworks USA. This will now be of no use to me, as Pollack (as far as I know) is the only European supplier of Dv8r's.
I have e-mailed Todd at Dreamworks, asking if I can cancel my landing gear order. I can only hope this will salvage something from this mess.
They continue to advertise Dv8r's on E-Bay Germany & shipping to all EU countries, but have now excluded Cyprus. This was edited today.
I will never use this company again.

Well I'm not going to use them either. Thats just screwed up.

I hope they see this thread and realize how word gets around about a bad experience and how it can cost them lost business.

I would suspect that in terms of carriage, the cost to Cyprus is prohibitively more than to "mainland" EU. They probably only found that out just before shipping it!

Yeah, but as a business, you've got to cut your losses if Cyprus wasn't excluded when Jim ordered it...

This may be an oversight but when the same companies name crops up several times then it's a sign that something isn't right.

I posted a request for info on a particular model on RCU a while back. I received a PM from Modellbau Pollack directing me to a similar model they had for sale. When I returned their message asking for more info on their model they ignored me[sm=confused.gif] What was the point of that?

I always wanted the 1/4 scale Cessna 177 Cardinal they had. I wonder if it is still available.

I don't think this is absolute, as I, as well as "Andyboy" have received a Foxcub and another DV8R from Pollack, two weeks ago and we only paid the quoted shipping fee on Ebay, which was about 61 Euros. Andy can also vouch for that.

I think, probably, Mr Pollack had to bring a Dv8R from the U.S. by air, just to make the deadline, which he promised Jim and found the cost prohibitive, so it was better for him to cancel the transaction. My question is: Are you allowed to do that on Ebay????

It's the same old story. Everyone has something to sell but some have nothing to deliver. As well as some things here today may be gone tomorrow. I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a Fox F-86 kit!!! I know there's one out there somewhere.

More importantly who let spain in?!
Africa starts where the Pyrenees finnish!

Back on topic.. I have to admit, I had to sell something on EB the other day and it cost a FORTUNE to send it to the buyer in italy...
It seems to be the hardest part of selling on ebay.. every postal company/ package company has different prices, rules, speeds, insurance etc etc

Gerhard" a real hardass! Typical for him to just cancel the order, I've dealt with him in the past with some of my 3W gassers, and say one thing out of the way and he's asking you for your papers.

true jim same here if i ship to cyprus and tell them the shipping charges mostly the customers cancel the orders.
same goes for ibiza , or any island ups shows me in the worldship module inside EU , but then comes with island surcharges wich are mostly twice the amount.
at least pollack could have told you this and could have left you with the option to ship it with the extra costs.
also volume shipping is a killer on shipping charges..
get one on jetpower and take it with you..
christos is very good with this he drags women , planes ,engines from germany to cyprus with a breeze! :-)

HI
Sorry for being offline the last couple of days, but to round off the week, my internet provider just went out of business & I am at an internet cafe in town.
I tried Troy before I got the deal with Pollack, but the shipping cost as much as the jet. Pollack new very well the shipping cost to Cyprus, as he had just sent one a couple of weeks prior to me ordering mine. I will strike him off my list to do business with.
The one person who was great to deal with, was Todd at Dreamworks. He cancelled my U/C order immediately when I told him the story.

Well,
as a german pilot and modelist I understand it´s angry to order a plane and than get the order rejected.
The transport and duty costs are quite different when you send or get a plane from abroad. There are some countries in and outside the EU, where to you pay high transport costs, so it makes no sense to deal thereto. Pollack has learnt this lesson and I think if you really want a DVR8, there will be a chance to get it by a flying colleague outside of cypres, on a meting or something else.
