RE: New large scale Airliner kits
Any idea for a nice paint scheme?
I still love the old Lufthansa style with lots of polished metal.

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
Hello
Looks great:-) do you have apporox dimentions for the 727? Also what kind of retract is used, and the wings - are they planked or from GRP?
Thanks!

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
The length of the 727 is 2.92 metres /115 "
Wingspan is 2.06 metres / 81 ".
We will make use of the 999-type LADO retracts that we offer in our shop with custom made legs. The retracts use 1/2 " pick ups.

Very exciting development - a break from the usual!
However, I do think that FalconWings is right, the nose section - at least around the window, looks off. To my eye, these pictures show it clearly - the rake angle of the center windshield post is steeper in the model than the full-scale.

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
Hi Bob, you are right, it is a bit off but remember - the full size one is phoztographed from the front and using a telephoto lens, while the model is made in the workshop using an extreme wide angle lens.
However, I admit it is a bit off but at the end of the day its a 727.
I have seen the nicest models - even those who won contests - with big mistakes in outline. If not someone had told me ,I would still believe they are 100 % scale.

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
Again, I applaud the effort - I'd like to see more airliner modes, they are very interesting and fun to watch.
I agree the difference is small, but there have already been some who've commented on it. To my eye, the full-scale nose section is sleeker and more pleasing to the eye than the model. If I was going to deviate from scale, I'd do so in the direction of making it sleeker - not in the direction of making it "blockier"...
I believe that Skymaster was going to do a 727 ARF and the picture of that got the same comments - the nose was off - for the same reason, it just doesn't look as sleek as the full-scale. Maybe its an optical illusion because of the size, but I'd make the nose of the model look as "sexy" as the full scale, even if it meant deviating from the full scale outline to achieve that effect. That seems to be what guys are looking for, but other's opinions may vary...

How far out is the 737?
do you know the dimensions of it yet?
Would love to do a twin Dyn-E-Max version of it... but that's a 128mm fan (mayber better for a 777)
so a cut down version in 120mm or a nice Stu Max 110, or if a 120mm stu max comes out
always wanted an airliner

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
The 737 has a wingspan of 2.14 metres / 84.25 " and a length of 2.63 metres / 103.5 "
The nacelles for the 737 are big enough to take large fans. The largest diametre is approx. 157 mm /6.2" see attachment.
The larger fan units should fit.One advantage of an airliner is that you are not short of space for batteries to feed larger fans........

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
I have never looked at the 320 - is it completely different to the 310 and 330 ?
As for the "painted "727". Sorry, I can not tell you a price as we start with the kit preparation after "JetPower". Too much work to be done now. But I am planning on building one of the airliners from time to time made to order.
Prices for built planes need to be arranged and are of course depending on the paint scheme you choose.

I really hesitate to complain but this is the most important part to get right in my opinion. If it is an illusion use a longer lens to show the true outline. A portrait photographer NEVER uses a wide angle lens other than to distort the image.

The nose section of an airliner is the plane's face. Even subtle differences will be as noticeable as someone you know really well getting a ''nose job'' or a face lift. The model looks more like one of the Russian copies in the nose.

I'm not saying this to be difficult, I just think that the look of this critical part, is off enough that it would spoil what could be an otherwise stunning model.
Oh, and I don't think its the wide-angle lens as this closeup also shows that the windscreen is too up-right.

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
I said it before - this model is not scale. I do not argue or deny. I do not even justify as these molds are not made by me.
I am not a photographer and the camera I use is s cheap Kodac that withstands daily use in the dirty and dusty conditions of my workshop.

Hello
Yes the A320 is completely different to the A300 A310 family. The A318 A319 A320 and A321 have exactly the same nose section fuselage and tail section. They are only different in length, 318 being the shortest 321 the longest. Also the 318 has a different vertical stabiliser than the rest, it being a little bit taller.

Good luck Ilja!
I have just maidened you P-59 and I must say that this is the best flying scale model I have ever flown! Flies as good as my boomerang sprint!
And I always loved airliners, and I need a new home for my P-80SE I have in the boomerang, so looking forward to get my hands on the new 727!
Regards,

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
But Ilja, what about the 1/8 Eurofighter, have you given up on it?!
How about a VC-10 model, prettiest airliner ever made and still (in RAF service) the fastest airliner in the sky today. Can be made as airliner or RAF air-air tanker.
regards
Harry

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
As said several times before - the Eurofighter, presented in September (and therefor "JetPower 2011") comes first !
I bought the airliner moulds just two weeks ago and look for kitting these this fall/winter.
Thanks for the compliments about the Airacomet, by the way ,Barry Hou (Team Taiwan) is actually flying it at the Jet World masters in Dayton which makes me a bit proud....

RE: New large scale Airliner kits
To be true - I just don`t know. I will make plans about the kits after "JetPower". Operational slats would be challenging and I am sure no one would appreciate the enormous design work I would need to put in it !
Flaps- of course.
