RE: Ali, What happened to the JC MAMMOTHS in the 262?
I had a turbine blade fail on the port turbine during a demo in Finland. The week after that show I was set to take it to a demo in Belgium and my only option was to retrofit the 2x P200's as I only had one day turn around time from Finland before I set off to Belgium. It flew 6 flights with the P200 SX's and went well, but for some reason just didn't sound anywhere near as good, so when the Mammoths were back they were re fitted and it flew again with them in August. So far so good.

I did indeed, just as I was running in from the right for a big barrel roll. At the moment I started the pull onto the upline I heard one go POP. The next circuit was interesting to say the least. Just to add to the fun and games, I extended the gear above the speed required for the nose to drop so had to put it onto the grass on just its mains. I got lucky all round and only popped the hinges off the nose gear door, which was an easy repair. I found out that the 262 is not a single operations model...

Hey Vin,
I got to about half power ( on the down wind leg to get it back round onto the runway ) and was having to dance a bit on the sticks to stop the ensuing flick onto its back. SO I very much doubt full power flight would be possible on this one.

Ali I was wondering about mammouth thrust, I was told it actually produces more than the 48lbs is the your experience as well? Thanks

Did you go to full power with opposite full rudder? I have some ME-262 stick time on the smaller AW version in both EDF and turbine. I did not think the jet would be controlable on one motor.

FYI I had two flights with my AW 262 where one of the MW44's stopped, the first time after a long slow/low power run down a runway at 10', flamed out on the pull up/power on, it did try and flick, but was managable to do a whole circuit and land normally. I have it on VHS somewhere.
