I thought that some of you may be interested in one of my new projects?
Its called the Tempest and it will be an all composite airframe for P60 to 100 size turbines. Wingspan is 1.5m.
The images are of the plugs which are nearing completion. I just have to fit the canopy and tidy up around the wing and tailplane joints, then into the spray shop before making the moulds.
I am hoping to get the first aircraft flying in January.
I would be interested in any constructive views/Comments.
Cheers

I really like it. Very nice lines IMHO ! Not a straight edge to be found anywhere! Is there any washout on the wings ?

The wings are a development of the Tazor wings which have very good performance at both and low speeds.
The wings are straight apart from the flicky up tips.

I like the flowing lines. The only suggestion I have would be to round off the tips of the horizontal stabs so the lines flow more like the wing tips. What's the intake area? What retracts are you planning to use?

Tips on the tail will be changed tomorrow - thanks, don't know how I missed that. The intake area on the Turbine version will be about 5950 sq mm, but the EDF version will be about 9000 sq mm to cope with the 120/128 mm fans that will go in it.
I generally use RA250's, or LADO, Jet1A or Behotec. All pretty standard sizing.

Very nice! What's the measurements in inches? Will it be available in kit form? Approx how much? We needed something else as pretty as a Bandit!

The prices will be about £850 for white kits and about £1400 sprayed to your design. (plus Tax if you are in the EU). As usual I will also be doing turnkey aircraft.

Well done Chris, a serious number of hours burned. Very nice lines much like the Tazor. Once you get this one in production how about some competition for the Ultra Flash?
Keep up the good work.
Rob.

No Rest for the Wicked
I have managed to do some of the Tempest wing mould over the Christmas break. I am very happy with the results so far
Hopefully I can get the top done later this week when I get some more supplies.

The wings for the first Tempest are nearly done.
I just have to work out the internal structure and get it CNC cut before fitting and joining the two halves. This would have been done today, but I decided to go flying instead

Hi Chris,
Very nice! Maybe have to arrainge a trip over to see this in person. Are you going to have enough hours in the day
One thought; better start considering how to box that one piece wing for international shipping
Are you planning an individual elevator servo for each stabilizer half?
Cheers,
Mike Warren

Hi Mike
Good to hear from you. Happy New Year!
Yes each elevator will have a servo. The stab will also be 1 piece like the Flash.
Also, as the wing is a little thicker than the Tazor was, I can use standard servos on the flaps and ailerons.

Managed to get a few shots of the Tempest today at the field. Just a few weeks, now and she will be ready for maiden.
I have opted for a P100 as the Main tank is a healthy 3.5ltrs.
I'm not sure if I will be making these or selling the rights on to a full time manufacturer.
