Default BF-100 Turbine

Hi guys,

Is anyone running a BF100 in anything? I see they are guaranteeing 125N which is 28lb thrust!! That's a lot more than a Jetcat P100!

I know the BF300 is a stunning turbine and has been signed off for aerospace use but I haven't heard much about the smaller 100.

Any info gratefully received.

Thanks,
Mark

Hey Mark, take a look at the Merlin 140 and Jet Central Cheetah 100mm size but 31lbs+!

Hi Mark,

will install 2 BF 100 in my Mibo A10. This engine is running very fine, some of my friens use this. Very smooth start and fast acceleration and deceleration.

regards
Joerg

Hi Joerg,

In a Mibo? I guess they'll fly it well? Will you run bigger fuel tanks as I think the Mibo tanks are only 2.7L?

You think they will be enough with full ordnance? Or you not flying with ordnance?

Cheers
Mark

Hey Mark,

i think 2x 125N is more than enough, also with full weapons. Fuel consumption is very low, a friend is flying one in a Jetwelt Strikemaster with dry weight ~ 23kg. 8min flight and tank is half empty ( 4,6 ltr Airworld Tank)

Hello,

A buddy of mine Peter Ayache from Altecare has one in his boomerang sprint and we flew that all summer in there with no isses... Flying with 83 oucnes of fuel for a comfortable 8 minutes.. Putting out about 27lbs of thrust, the turbine is sent out with a certificate stating what it will deliver...Small, light and powerful with a quick response, is how I would describe it. Visit the website www.altecare.com for any info if you haven't already.. We are currently finishing up 2 Flashes and will be equiped with this turbine, should be a blast...

All the best

Hi Mark my friend

I also run a BF 100 in my small Futura!

Only thing i can say, this little turbine is putting out a lot of pressure and takes very little fuel.

My small Futura weighs around 11kg wet with 3 liters of fuel. Unlimited vertical after takes off is guaranteed, and about 8 minute of flight time. Landing with about 0,5 lt. of fuel.
Very fast throttle response too.

What ever you plan to power it with, the BF 100 can be recommended!

Cheers,

Thomas

Hey Thomas, thanks!

Unlimited vertical after take off at 11kg on a 100 is pretty impressive [X(]

Mark

Very interesting topic! as the turbine is very light it might be a perfect choice for the SM A10 that I will have ready in a few months. A lot more power than the P100.
Do you guys know who is the dealear for BF in the US?

Thanks,

Gonzalo

Although, installed weight is 1590g. Same as a P140 and P180RX!!!

I may as well go for a P180RX, dial down the power, preserve the turbine life and have a turbine I can use in loads of other models afterwards?!!

Mark, i´m sure the Jet-Cat weight is only the engine, without any components.

Solenoids are in the turbine and ECU is tiny and only a few grams so very little difference. 11lbs more thrust for about 60g extra?...

fuel pump and Ecu ~ 100gr.

and remember, the engine is 1590gr - 1210gr ( BF) lighter, thats 380gr. which i can put before the CG...

Also i prefer valve and other parts out of the turbine, if something was wrong i can repair it on the field, if something happend with Jetcat you can send it to the service...

but at last its your choice

I have a BF-100 that I have tested on my Phoenix and it is a great engine. Very pedendable and reliable. Great service.
It should really be called BF-120 though in terms of size and weght.
