NEW BUILDERS JET KIT VAMPIRE
#26

Well....no wonder the shipping cost is a bit high. It comes in 3 packets from 3 different suppliers......Good old fashion Brittish efficiency
The plans pack, and VAC pack arrived.
3 fullsize plan sheets, look great.
The VAC pack has a thick ABS plastic nose cone, and a clear canopy, and a very thin white abs canopy......dont know if it is just a protection part, or to be used as a canopy frame. The frame is molded into the clear canopy allready
The wood pack and CNC cut parts should be on their way later this week.

Wood pack, and CNC pack showed up today.
I have ordered glue and a few new tools to build this......its probably been 15 years since I built a kit
Im not going to put a deadline on this build, but somehow there is a vampire hidden in that pile of wood, and I hope it will emerge this summer

That Supermarine scimitar in the second video sure looks nice!

I've got a 1/5 scale Sterner vamp that I started several years ago.....that CNC pack might be the way to go! My father in law flew these after the war, and even survived a mid air collision... So there is some family history there, and I would really like to get one built.

Sound good Budjet, looking forward to the pictures.
I just glued the fuselage side parts together.
Have you bought the wing joiner tubes for yours ?
If so, where did you get them ?

Buy some ammonia soak it for about 15mins.
Or
Method I have used before, was to cut a series of slits on the inside about 3/4 of the way through the wood. I made up a little saw table for my dremel so the saw blade was just sticking through about 4mm for the 1/4" (6mm) wood.

looking good......planking is up next
Building is great.....I had forgotten how much satisfaction you get when creating something from allmost nothing

Got the top sheeting on today.
I reached the limits of my short blade exacto knife, and sand paper.....I need the razor plane that is on the way in the mail, so I can get the job done right.
So far, it seems very well designed. It is built like a tank, and maybe a little on the heavy side, but at least it will be very strong

hehe....I still need to glue in the middle 9mm planking on the lower fuselage, then I will cut out the hatches.
Thought i`d give the wing a go just for a change
A notch on wing rib W7 traling edge is cut in the wrong place, but no big deal to cut a new one just infront of it.
The top view of the wing says to pack up the rear wing spar with an 8mm shim.
But a side view says 16mm, and that one is correct.
Also, if you have the wing joiner tubes when you assemble the wing, remember to slide in the small aft 1/2 " outer paper tube before gluing the ribs, as it cant be inserted after assembly.
My joiner tubes are in the mail, and will be here next week. Im going to make a hole in the first W1 rib so I can insert it through there......but it is not according to plan
