Default Water slide / transfer decal source Q

Hi guys,

Need a vector for a source on water transfer decals. I've used dry transfers before, but I don't want to use them this time.

I have used the search function here and for about the last hour I haven't really found what I am after. I need something like the ones that BVM sells for their F-86...If I was doing an 86 they'd be perfect... but.....

I need RCAF stuff- roundels, rescue arrows, numerals, nomenclature, etc.

It needs to be something that I can put on top of a base coat, lightly shoot with a clear coat (so as to prevent wrinkling) and then reshoot clear over the entire plane as soon as the light clear on the decals dries.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

J.P.

Thanks guys. I'll check out tailor-made.

Has anyone tried the ink jet sheets and sprayed automotive clear coat over it?

If you have any graphic software or cad software you can make your own quite easily.

I use the laser jet decal sheets with fantastic results

http://www.decalpaper.com/category-s/3.htm

I would not recommend ink jet paper as you must seal the decals with clear before applying them.

If you don't have access to a good color laser jet printer you can go to any office supply store that offers printing services.

If you are printing anything that requires a white background you have a couple of choices

1) Paint the background white on your model, it may require making a mask of the outline of your graphic image
2) Purchase the White water Slide decal paper, this requires you to trim at the edges of your graphic image
3) Find a provider that has an Alps printer, they can print white on the clear paper

Here is a sample of some stars and bars I made in AutoCAD,(see PDF file) if they are the right size you can use it to print some

I hope this helps

Oh I just found some photos of my Reaction project, the color is Automotive base (NASON) and the Clear is also NASON.

All the graphics I created were printed on water slide decal paper with clear applied over them except the tail, the tiger stripes and the "A" were painted using paint mask's I created in AutoCAD

BTW, you'll see the reaction on the KY Jet thread and Speed world thread as I sold it to my friend Jim M. who has been flying the heck out of it

I've had great results buying vinyl decals from local sign shops. Get the .jpg file you need off the internet or the sign shop may be able to find the image (file) you need. They can shrink the image or enlarge it as you require. Spray a little Windex on the area you're covering, peel the backing off the vinyl decal, position the decal as desired, then peel the front covering off the decal. Squeegee off excess Windex and let dry. I did this recently with a NASA decal as a test to see how well it works. I sprayed the decal with Krylon Flat Clear. It's an electric plane so fuel proofing is not an issue.

The water transfer decals are ok but I prefer buying vinyl decals from a sign shop. I'm always very satisfied with the results.

Nice work. You are self-sufficient. That saves you lots of time and money.

I have a color laser printer. Just wish I knew how to design these decals. I'd be making my own rivits and decals if I could.

Thanks for all the input guys!

Rich, you are the man! Thank you for sharing the files. I am going to see what I can do with them this week. As Shaz, said, we saw the Reaction at DJS. It looked great!

I'll try to keep you guys updated on what I learn and how it goes!

Hi friends:

But, the question is really if you need pay the money for something that you can make. This is a hobby, I think that all thing you can to buy it, but really is more interesting make it, not ?

If you put your RTF jet full equiped in the club airfield for fly, where is the job of the hobby ??? It is a hobby for fly only or built and fly ?

I make my own decals in Corel Draw, are really easy to make, is only question of time and dedication, of course is more easy to buy it, but... is possible that not fit perfect at first time, but wich thing is perfect at first time ???

BR from Spain.

Just as an additional option, I've had great luck with this site:www.callie-graphics.com/. Great service on customized items and US-based.
