Default Fuel line

What type fuel line is used inside the tanks that will stay flexable ?
I use Viton in my gas tanks, because it does not need changing every year. Is this viton compatable with jet fuels and oils?

Thanks.

yeah i almost mentioned the size issue, thats why i went with tygon so i could use larger stuff to keep pressure down

Does the Tygon stiffen up over time like it does in gas ? I would think it would. How often do you guys change out the fuel line in the tanks ?

Tygon will eventually stiffen. In fuel tank applications it's good for 3 - 4 years. Make sure that you are using real Tygon. The stuff that comes with most ARF's is yellow vinyl and that's good for only a year. A lot of hobby places sell yellow vinyl tubing and call it tygon. If it doesn't have "F-4040-A" printed on it then it's not real Tygon. The Dubro stuff is real Tygon.

The absolute best material is Viton. It will last indefinitely in fuel. It will swell slightly after soaking in fuel so make sure that you safety wire all connections. I get mine from McMaster-Carr.

Hey Joe,

it is hard to find things on Macmaster site. Do you have the exact link for Vilton tubing.

I'm using 5119K41. If you need a different size order the thinest wall tubing for that size. Also make sure it's the soft (60 durometer) stuff.

For some rerason the above link doesn't take you to exactly the same page I was on. Just go there and search on 5119K41.

I'm new to jets but in gassers we already know how well Viton works and long it will last. I used it in my first jet and it's perfect, no problems in this application either. As you know it is much more flexible than Tygon and the BVM clunk line stuff I received was very stiff in comparison to Viton as well.

McMaster Carr is a good supplier, if you don't want to hunt and only need a couple feet I would suggest Red Aero RC.... these guys are great and they certainly support the RC hobby.
