Is Kress Jets still in business ? Do they have a website or a catalog ? I was wondering if they had a .40 sized fan unit.

Kress use to send me a catalog each year. I haven't got one in the last few either.

Happened to be browsing and found your question about Kress Fans. I have one of the 40 size fan units. I was not impessed with it. I put it in a Zeroli F-4 Phantom. I could never get it off the ground. It made a great car but that wasn't what I was looking for. Where the main bolts attached to the engine I got severe cracking and had to reinforce these areas with glass cloth. I was using a K&B 7.5 with a K&B pipe. On 35% nitro I did manage to get around 22,000 RPM's so I should have had enough thrust to fly the model. It wouldn't even move on grass so I took it to the local airport and tried it, no luck there either. Some day I may try an original design with more wing area. The unit looks great and maybe in a differant application it might work.

The Kress units have been around for a really long time. Back in the day they worked well. Personally, I have been getting great results from the Toki .18 fan units to replace the Kress RK-709 glow units. Size wise, they are larger and in the 90mm range but are a complete unit vs. getting a fan from Kress, a pipe from Mac's and a motor from another vender and price is right about the same.

For some they worked great and for others, people found them to be a PITA to assemble and get them to perform well.

There has been some chatter about Kress selling out but anytime I do need anything they are still taking orders.

Thanks,
Mark

I'm interested in fitting a ziroli F-4 phantom with a k&b.45/turbax I, do you think the jet will have enough power? what configuration did you end up using? thanks for the info.

Yes, they are very much in business. They are still producing all of the fan units including the Rk-740 (.40 sized) which you speak of.
I have install an rk-740 into my HB A7.
