Default WSJ Article on Drones

Interesting article in the WSJ. This is the second I've seen in the last week. A sign of things to come. While the hobby may benefit from the influx of technology from all the drone applications, I am not sure that the press and the "attention" that will be generated by them will benefit us. IMO.

If you read the rest of the FAA authorization bill, you will see that it *mandated* that the FAA make provisions for UAS to access the National Airspace - by 2015 at the latest, I believe. There is a lot of press being generated by this now and it will only increase. There are a lot of law enforcement agencies that want to get into UAS big-time and also lots of "freedom and privacy" advocates that are opposed to that.

Bottom line, expect to see *a lot* more press on UAS type activities. Make sure that anyone you talk to about that knows that's not "model aviation" that we do...

Exactly! Stress the differences and not the similarities.
