And a special thanks to Thomas for help with laying up the wings. And yes I will definitely take advantage of your time now that your only 20 minutes away, lol! Just let me know if you need anything else cut out for your impressive f-14. I love helping on these projects. I was very impressed with the weight on that fuse u layed up last week. By the way, let me know when your putting in that order for arex.

As it is now thought, I've got enough for us to finish an A-10 airframe

Sounds fine to me! I thought the order was still in the air. I would just use some in key locations on the fuse. I don't think I will need to go xtreme like you and use it on the whole fuse, lol.

haha.. yea no need for the whole fuse, just the important spots The next F-14 fuse will probably shave 3-4 pounds off its weight.. i've got plans to get the entire airframe under 25pounds!
I ordered some more airex and carbon for my wing panels as i need that stuff soon. I'll probably be ready for another order of stuff come the new year though..

That would be excellent! That's a massive airframe. On average, my A-10 weighs 20-25 pounds fully loaded.

And a happy new year to you too James! I am still plucking away here and there. Its getting very close. Just a few more molds left. I am actually finishing up the front scale strut in CAD right now. To make it a bit easier on me ,I have decided to work off the century jet retracts that I have used. In general, they are a nice retract but they were a bit boxy looking and lacking real scale detail. I would call them semi scale. The travel on the shock was also not right. They only extended as far as they would look as if the aircraft was on static display, so I am going to have Bruce fix that for me with a two stage spring to work with the weight of the A-10. The other details will be reworked. This will also allow for an electric setup which I think will work out nice. There will be some scale strut covers that I will have 3d printed and then molded. As far as design and setup, I think this will be the best route for these.

I am having the tire molds machined in aluminum. They should be here soon. There will also be a mold for a foam core so I can keep the weight down while keeping them solid.

Molding the deceleron . I machined these in 3d but the plastic warped a bit so I had to machine jigs to straighten them back up while molding. I should have just had them machined as mold out of aluminum. Invertmast (Thomas) gave me some of his aluminum plate that he used for his F-14 plugs and I used it for the raised detail on these. In my opinion i think the styrene sheets that I have been using are a little easier to work with. Im sure the styrene probably wouldn't work good for punching rivets though.

Received my first 3d print today of one of the front lights. I wanted to see the quality of print before I had more pieces printed. It came out pretty good at 30 microns. The little bolt details even came out nicely. There is a slight pattern on the piece but overall I think it came out good. I will use these as masters and will cast these pieces.
I have also designed a new type of brake system and have 2 prototypes made. I have been having an issue finding a decent brake system so I have designed my own. The new brake system will be air or electric operated. More versatile setup.

Thanks for your patience guys. Small update for you here. Tire molds and rims. Could not find anyone here in the U.S. to touch these. Been a real challenge so I had our Chinese friends have a shot at it, lol. I am very impressed with the work. More to come soon.
thanks

How you been Chris? Glad to see some progress on your newer kit since you last posted. Mine is getting its final colors and will be flying at the up coming Jet Jam in Muncie but even if its not as nice as yours, I still appreciate the hinges and canopy that you provided to for my wowplanes build.
I look forward to seeing your completed and if I can swing it, maybe get one of your kits added to the hangar and then I could retire my 20lb foamy. As to your great looking wheels, how much do they weight and what would a set run me to fit on mine?
Keep up the great work Chris and hope all is still working for you down there in Florida.
