WOW how time flies... !
I was just getting ready for TG 2012 and came across these photos of my son Ricky (Ricardo) from many years ago. I guess sometimes we just have to say " thanks " for the time this hobby of ours lets us have together... Out of my three boys, Ricky is the only one that took after my passion for radio control. I most definitely do other things with Guillermo, the oldest, and Antonio the younger one.
The photos just reminded me of great times at our field in Puerto Rico, Borinquen RC Model club (www.borinquenrc.net). Ricky will be flying a Skyrader in ProAmSport this year.
My name is Frankie Mirandes and I am the PROUD PAPA.
This hobby is about sharing our experiences and our passion with other people. At the end of our days, we are not taking anything with us. Not even a servo… So let’s go out there and make a difference… TELL SOMEONE ABOUT RADIO CONTROL, TEACH SOMEONE TO FLY.
I will like to challenge you to go out there find a trainer plane and teach a kit how to fly rc. It is the future of our hobby. It is a great feeling seeing the smile of a new pilot when he or she can finally complete a solo flight. That is what is all about. Make a difference in someone’s life.
who knows... you might me teaching someone that might end up at TOP GUN in the future.
Safe landings !
Frankie

See you there Frankie. I land Monday and hope to get to the field either late Tuesday or early Wednesday. My little man would love nothing more than to join me. Luckily for me, school gets int he way. Sharing planes with him is hard work. This extra that he is photographed with... He has flown more than I have! [&:]
He even offers to test fly my new turbine glider for me

My son is 14 months old and has been going out to the flying field with me and my wife since he was 4 months old. He already watch's the airplanes flying around and even points at them, and has been helping me out since he was able to crawl..

Frankie, good on ya! Always great to see the hobby passed down.
My son has been going to the field since he was 14 days old (seriously) and he has enjoyed the hobby with me his entire life. He is now a better pilot than me and it is a real pleasure to watch him fly. Here is a picture of him with his Bandit @ age 12.... This is something we will share together for the rest of our lives!

Me and my dad shared my early teenage years doing the hobby together we just flew 40 size planes and kyosho helis. Been many years since we spent much time doing rc with me being military and to far apart. Looking forward to retirement on 7 years so I can get back to that and maybe my 4 year old will be into it by then.

Frankie,
Another "Proud Papa" here! From putting her on the sticks when she was 3 months old to Scott Harris having to grab her off of his work bench while she tried to steal his Pink Panther doll to Chasing Peanut at the shows (the first time I ever saw BV laugh too...LOL) to watching her watch the jets fly at the field...watching her point into the sky and say "Dada" while pointing to airplanes...there is simply nothing better.
Saludos,
Boli
PS. See you tomorrow at the field...it's me, you and Jorge!

Scott, you have to be at the field by know, see you there !
Timbo, you need to be here next year. Make it happen.
SO WHAT IS THE LATEST WEATHER FORCAST ?
Are we there jet ?.....

Reports are that it is windy. 22mph today and 16 mph tomorrow. But by Wednesday it is supposed to be 6-9mph with the wind straight down the runway from the East. That is the forecast for the rest of the event as well. Should be good as long as it holds true. See you guys Wednesday.

WOW !!!
TG was great and the weather awesome. Great to see so many GOOD TOP Pilots in the same place.
Have to be honest, It is a great feeling seeing my son doing great competing against the some of the top pilots in the nation and/or the world.
He did great, 6th overall in pro am sport. Only 3.64 points of Franco, the first place. He flew a Ziroli Skyrader in all 4 rounds. Not including the noon time with all the warbirds, practice flights and my new electrifying all electric ELECTRA in the Navy Trainer Scheme. He flies it better than me.
One thing he mentioned to me, is that I am forbidden of helping Jorge Escalona, ( who ended up 5th in Sport).... lol
Cheers ! till TG 2013! Go out there and practice ! Make every flight a Top Gun flight.
