Default E-Flite F-4 Phantom

Hi,

Does anyone know for sure whether this fuse is polyester or epoxy? It looks like Chinese epoxy, but it smells like polyester if you grind or sand on it. There's a crack in this fuse, and they tried to repair it before paint but the balsa they used as a splint cracked away. I want to try and glass it over, but don't know whether to use epoxy or what.

Polyester. No epoxy at this price point.

Hi,

Thanks. I just happen to have a ton of polyester resin around, so that works out fine. John, were you involved in the development of this bird?

Nope. David Payne did all of the work on this one. I provided a few books and pictures for him and that was it. This bird flies like a normal Phantom. You will like it Shaun.

Well,

If the experience so far is any indication, then yes. Like I said previously, I scoffed at the price tag before I opened one up. Now that I've built one, I think this baby is a steal at that price. Some real quality work here.

Right,

But the question was whether to glass it with epoxy or polyester resin. I used a couple of strips of glass cloth and Bondo polyester resin. Good as new! Thanks!

I've seen one of these fly in person and it's a REALLY nice flying airplane. The gray color scheme however WORKS on a gray day so keep your eyes on it at all times. It slows down nicely in the pattern, and flies like a much bigger airplane. You need to land it like a turbine. Elevator controls airspeed, throttle controls descent rate. I've seen a couple guys try to fly them like little foamies and prang it up a bit.

John, Any idea what jet is next in the series ? Enjoyed the Habu 32 ,F4 is nice.....would love a F5/F20 hint hint

If one is in the works, I'll send Horizon a pre-buy deposit and wont care how long I'll have to wait.....have other jets to fly.

Can't say what the next one will be. Under $300, that would be hard with the current pricing of what is available.

John,

If you have an F-4 in the line up, then you have to have a Mig-21......

Tailwinds,

John

42 " WS F5/F20 would be sweet.Knowing the high quality of the kits and paying a little more would be OK with me.But if Horizon could pull it off for $300 I think they fly off the shelves. No body has done a realy nice F5/F20 at this scale.I think it would be a great choice for this series....IMHO please John make it so............

Would like to see eflite come up with a 8s system for these, on 6s stock they are dogs.  Very few upgrade options out there that dont cost more then the jet itself.

I don't feel the stock set up's is a dog.We have all seen Tam Jet and the turbine up grades for those who want more.I like how the jets come and can hold up to the modifcations fellow modeler's choose to do on there own. Like John said this is a low price point to get a really nice jet.I have a Skymaster F20 with about 8K into it,so if your bored there are other options

Wait...

What am I missing? Are all those videos of this plane hauling ***** fakes or of planes with other-than-stock setups?
