Default Does anyone fly a Bobcat without a Gyro?

I am about to complete a standard BobCat. I was wondering if many people fly one without using a Gyro? I was planning to use one, but it may not be necessary according to some poeple.

Hal,

All of the MS Gang use gyros in our BC's any one of us can help you set it up. It is not absolutely necessary but it sure does make landing it easier.

Hi,

I have disconnected mine and flow two flights so far in relatively calm winds.... Seems good so far.

Default Gyro

I have flown mine both with and without. Both will work, but it is much easier to land with the gyro on a windy day.

Default Bobcat gyro

At our last jet rally, one of the pilots got into a bit of trouble on landing (in a mild crosswind situation) and ran his aircraft through the safety fence. He was not using a gyro on his Bobcat. It is probably best to use the gyro as specified by BVM rather than risk damaging your airplane.
