How often do you change your Socks... UAT socks that is...

The only time I would change the sock would be if there was excessive algae on the bag, or it appeared very darkened and dirty. If the later is the reason, I would look to improve filtration on the fueling station as nothing should really even be getting into the fuel supply to begin with.

Never for me too! I've replaced the outer bottle on one sock - bottle was ruptured in a crash, nothing wrong with the innards - so £5 spent on new bottle saves £60 for new UAT! I also only put mil spec fuel in my jets as it has a fungus suppressant, so there is no fungus anywhere in my fuel systems.

Airtex (& others) FS3 Fuel Strainer for $6 & up at your local auto parts store - OReilly's, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc. You'll have to cut off the end with the metal fitting. Been awhile, but I think you also have to cut the plastic thingy inside too.

These are the exact same fuel pick up sock that is in automotive fuel tanks, the only time they get changed is if the fuel pump / sending unit needs replacement.

Now that you mention it, i never really looked at it that way, but you are right..
