RE: BVM Super Bandit Wings
I accomplished the same retrofit in 2006. My trusty old (2003) Super Balsa Bandit got a new set of composite wings. (I got a great deal on an unstarted set of them, so why not?)
Now, the airframe sports composite wings, and balsa tail surfaces.
The differences are major. For example, flap and aileron hinging, total area, (Balsa is 750 sq. in. vs. composite 736 sq. in). The balsa wings feature an updated landing gear door scheme too, longer flaps, shorter ailerons.
I feel that the balsa wings are slightly better for high field altitudes and high density altitudes.
If I recall correctly, the balsa wings have less sweepback than the composite.
This photo is shows the original balsa wings.

RE: BVM Super Bandit Wings
Harley, I thought the Super Balsa wings where the design that the BARF wings where made after, same area, larger flaps, yada, yada, yada?
They fit. Had I known this, I would've bought those wings for my SBB when I dumb thumbed on landing. One of the guys here, ACW, who is now out of the hobby, retrofitted his wings and there was just 1/16th gap that he just filled in and got many, many happy flights.

RE: BVM Super Bandit Wings
RAV,
The Bandit ARF planform might be the same. I haven't made the comparison, but will in the near future.
The composite Super Bandit wings sure are hell for strong!
The attached photo is of the same airframe with composite wings. Same pylons, same drop tanks too. I can drop anything in the 2nd photo.

RE: BVM Super Bandit Wings
Thanks for the input guys!
I got a quote for a set of wings from BVM, just wanted to double check that the spars/mounting system was the same...didnt want to spend a fortune to be left with an expensive set of useless wings...
BTW anyone might have a set of composite bandit wings they want to get rid of..?
