No one cares, its all about Large Hawks and $14,000 A4's that dont work.

I had a Mav and as much as I can remember it used nylon flat type hinges, bonded against the split flap top skin and the inner skin of the balsa sheeting of the wing. Really nothing to it, if memory serves me well.

A friend of mine did a mod to replace the split flap with a normal full bodied one. Just cut the flap off of the wing and sheet every surface that has an exposed section of foam core, then hinge at the very bottom.

Good luck,
David

Just use a normal flat hinge from the bottom. Nothing special about the Maverick flaps!?

The normal mavs used a split flap. The mavpro used a normal flap.

Hi Adam, all the above posts are correct. I have just done mine, (full depth with standard bottom hinging) Why do you ask? yours is complete, Ron.

If you still need it I have a standard Maverick, stopped mid-stream in the building phase years ago. Still have all the documentation, so I can send you the exact info from the manual and picture pages. Would be able to send them right after Christmas. Just let me know.

Hi Adam:

You can make the hinges like composite wing, you must retire half balsa cover and put into the nylon hinge, them cover again with balsa and them apply fiber glass. Is like built the wing in foam with the nylon hinge but with a wood and ribs wing.

I show you a photo of my foam wing with nylon hinge.

BR form Spain.

Carlos, very nice. The hinge material is a nylon strip of some sort? Any idea where to get it and thickness?

The Maverick came with Hayes Poly hinges. I have used them on the flaps and other control surfaces on my Maverick and on a number of other planes. They hold up very well. I've had no issues with them and 250 flights on one jet. Your local hobby shop may have them. If not they're available from Tower. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...LXK840&P=7

These look like a possible substitute for the nylon hinge.
