Default Detail4scale light controllers question

Anyone here using the new multi watt pro controller or the afterburner ring controller with a 7.4 volt lipo or ion? Reason I ask is the website says to use lower voltage, but I have talked to people who use them and it seems to be fine. I am running both controllers on one battery just wondering how they hold up to 7.4-8.4 volts which for a lipo 8.4 is what they show fully charged. Thanks

I just ordered one of the lighting kits for my next F-100 and then i was wondering the same thing. So i went on to the web sight and read up on the multi-watt pro and it does have a set of heavy gauge wires coming out of it to run it straight off of lipo's. So it should work.

I have one of Dan's afterburner ring controllers in my F-104 and it runs off a 2S lipo plugged directly into it. I suspect the multi-watt is the same....but a quick call to Dan will eliminate any concerns. I've found him to be very helpful over the phone. I think he talked me through the auto drag chute programming 3 times before the lightbulb went off. Btw, these pics were taken in the middle of the day.

well I did ask dan he said they were made to run A123s but he had these before A123s got popular and I was just wondering how they hold up for people who are running them on lipos. I saw one at GA jets running 7.4 and asked he said no problem.

Yeah from what i read the afterburner is good for lipos but the max for lighting controller is 7.2v so i will just run 6.6 on both and be done with it.

Have patience. One thing I discovered about Dan is, it may take a while to get your stuff, but when you do finally get it, the quality is LIGHT YEARS ahead of us. In regards to using 7.4 volt lipo or ion with his new multi watt controller, they work just fine. I have one and use it with a Duralite 7.4 Volt 2900MAH pack. Working great! Lights are plenty bright!

Well dang it, lol I just ordered two 6.6 liFe packs, I would have much rather used a 2 cell Ion. Less weight and brighter lights

FB,
I have run these lighting controllers and AB Controllers with LithIons 7.4v for a long time, switching to LiPo 2S, 7.4v about a year ago...probably used in 15-16 different jets and all still working perfect.
