In the proccess of building a Warthog. The big one. Just thought you guys might wat to see it. As of now the gear mounts are done, wings are glassed. And I just put primer on the tail parts and pieces. It will be powered by two simjet 1700s. Jr 10x raidio. A question if I may. What servos should I use? Remember I have to buy 10 for the movable surfaces. So 8411s are out of the picture. Too $$$y.
Well thanks and enjoy the pics.

Is that Dean's kit????
Looks very nice!!
I'll give you a great advice and I'm sure that most will agree with what I'm about to tell you. ( just my two cents )
If you're gonna have such a big jet Twined up as well even a regular size jet , go with the best servos money can buy you.
The reason I tell you this is because I had a terrible loss (BVM F-4 Phantom) due to a Flap servo failure for thinking I could save a few bucks I would hate to see that happen to anyone else.
I use all Multiplex and Airtronics servos now and everything has been working fantastic so take your time and enjoy your A-10 as they are a blast and very impressive flyers.
My Best Regards.........Johnny Hernandez

Johnny is right on the money, buy the best and strongest servos you can put in your plane. If you figure the total cost of your A-10 and add a few dollars to the total price between moderatly price servos and the total of the top of the line servos you might have $100 or $150 difference. Then figure your investment of just your turbines and I think you will see our point.
Good luck,
Ken..........

Nope it ain't my kit. Looks like the Shipley import? Trust me, use at least 140 oz servo's for everything but the rudders where 65oz BB servo's will do. To do it right you will spend at least $1200 total on servos!
Lets see now,
$3995 on the kit
$ 600 on wheels, brakes, and air support. I don't know if retracts are included
$6000 on turbines
$ 200 on finishing, or more!
$ 200 on a scale cockpit
$10,995 plus your labor and what ever servos you use.........
And you want to save $500 on servos?
Please don't!!!
And when you have to abort a landing be prepared!! Two second spoolup time may sound like a short time but you will be suprised how long it will be and how much ground you will cover before the turbines start to build power! And then, those high mounted turbines will do their damndest to drive that gattling gun into the ground! If you want an idea what it's like try mine in Real Flight addon #3. Then I GARUNTEEE you will want 250 oz servos on the elevators!! Any other questions you have feel free to contact me, off line.
Best of luck with your project!

i believe the best savings come from the holding power of digitals with the economy of a cored motor..that adds upto a digital hitec. giant scale guys are talking nothing but good news about them. i have many and the programmer that is better than buying a jr match box each time you need to sync a pair of servos..check out the prices at maxx products. they have had the best deal so far. if not go to national hobby and call them to get the secret price too low to advertise. i did the 8411 thing and i think the hitecs are better servos for the money.

Hey man how are you?
Lets do this, e-mail me and we'll talk about it cause I really don't want to start a servo war in here man as I know this gets pretty hectic at times and I cant take another beating online
still licking my wounds from a previous mistake for not wording things right even though I was backed up by a bunch of heavy hitters LOL.

Go with the best and then test each one. I just went out to the desert to test fly my twin jet only to have a flap servo completely fail on me. This plane has 10 JR 8411s and five micro servos along with 2 I4C isolators, 4 6.0 volt servo battery packs and 2 4.8 volt receiver packs. I have backup systems for all of the primary control surfaces and battery systems. This does not mean I will not suffer a failure, but it is extra insurance, should something go wrong. I have a lot of cash tied up in the plane and I would hate to see it go up in smoke, only to discover it was due to the fact I wanted to save a few bucks. The cost of servos is small compared to the overall invertment in the plane.
